Bod, I know Max was faithful to Germany. He was.. Christ, it was his home and country... BUT! After his KO loss to Joe Louie in '38, poor Max wasn't 100% sure he and his wife were not gonna be slayed upon his return there after he left the hospital in New York..... Max went back home cuz his wife was there...... PERIOD! Had Max's wife been in New York for his KO loss to Louie, they MIGHT have bypassed Germany for a few yrs.?.? Who the hell would want to face Hitler and the director of Propaganda prior to a world war??? You'd have to be a nut to do so......... MR.BILL
Why do people always bring up Daniels? This was Schmeling´s last fight at lhw, he was badly weight drained for that fight and had huge trouble even making the weight. And Uzdudun? Wtf? Schmeling is 2-0-1 against him. He didn´t even lose to him. Sorry but I don´t think those fights - and Sharkey I - should count as inconsistency. Like I said before what makes the difference for me is their performances against Walker. These prove to me that there was a difference between Sharkey and Schmeling. Baer imo is clearly behind both. btw. Sharkey was ranked in the Top10 for about Ten years. Schmeling was ranked in the Top3/5 for nine years.
I love the film "Joe and Max" with Leonard Roberts and Til Schweiger....... Oh, Rich Roundtree (Shaft) was great as Jack Blackburn........ WORD!:think MR.BILL
Give me any proof of this. I have four bios on Schmeling here including his auto-biography and, if I´m not having Alzheimer, it´s not mentioned anywhere.
Til Schweiger is such a bad actor :-( He is great as a writer, director and as the one who picks the music for movies but he is a subpar actor. Better than Maske though. And that guy will play in the upcoming Schmeling movie. And guess who will be the director ... Uwe Boll. That movie will be so bad. I´d prefer it would not be made than have it mady by these people.
If Schmeling jumped and blindsided Walker in a dark alley, then, no, this wasn't necessary. If, however, they signed on the dotted line with eyes wide open, and were paid for this fight, then, yes, it was necessary for both men.
Here's a comparison between Schmeling and Sharkey. The 1st number is the different boxers each of them fought that were rated in the top 10 at one time or another. The 2nd number is the amount of bouts each had against them. The 3rd number is the amount of career bouts they had. The 4th numbers is their record against them. Schmeling: 14/20/70 - 13-6-1 Sharkey::: 25/35/55 - 19-13-3 The 1st number is the amount of times they fought someone that was rated in the Top 10 when they fought them. The 2nd number is the amount of career bouts each had. The 4th numbers is their record against them. Schmeling: 11/70 - 7-4-0 Sharkey::: 18/55 - 10-6-2 Schmeling was rated in the top 10 from March 1929 to May 1940 for a total of 122 months. Sharkey was rated in the top 10 from February 1926 to October 1936 for a total of 77 months.
Well, it 'tis highly political.. Hitler was already a proven "Jerk" prior to '38.... The USA and anti-Nazi's knew that prior to 1938... Mad Max sure as hell knew it, too.. thumbsup:hat:nono MR.BILL:admin
I never said Sharkey is better nor has a better resume than Schmeling. All I said was both are very equal in terms of legacy. Schmeling did record a monumental victory over Louis in one of the most tactical game plans ever executed. But at the same time Sharkey in his prime never got to fight the 36 Louis, so we don't know if Sharkey might have exposed a young joe louis.
