Yes, that is why some of the reactions of the posters here after reading the first post, sound at once naive and very impressed, when they should know there are other boxers who hit or hit harder than him.

There's alot of guys on here who don't fight- and to me, it's impressive because I didn't know the difference between a smaller fighter like Hatton and the average person was that big.

No need to be such a dick about it, really.

The average person doesnt relate to Newtons.

Just like scales have Kg on them but technically it isnt correct.

I wonder how they get the Kg figure, divide a measured newton value by g? :think

Not impressive to me since they once did the same tests only for top kickboxers. (for their low kicks , mid kicks and high kicks)...

But I thought it still was interesting to post Hatton's result because it gives us a perspective on what the guy can do even though He's not a mini-Tua in terms of KO power , nonetheless , His punches are still impressive for a guy of his size.

    Absolutely.

There are plenty of other fighters that can produce same/greater numbers than Hatton.

PSI is pressure or stress. Its force/area

Kg is mass. its not a force at all.

Kg to pound force conversions are technically incorrect because one is mass and the other is force. However, the gravity is pretty constant on earth, so the 1kg = 2.2lb is valid on Earth.

they are probably dividing out by gravity, but its just wierd because hes hitting a bag sideways so the acceleration isnt from gravity, its from his arms.

Their measurement equiptment probably just measures in Kg (with 9.81 m/s^2 divided out)

another way to think of it, is that theyre getting 500 Kg of mass. Hatton obviously doesnt weigh 500Kg much less his arms. What its basically showing is that his arms are accelerating much faster than gravity on earth.

    Im a dork

eh it's cool man, I could actually tell you how Picasso was and is overrated by art critics and gullible collectors because they didn't want to simply say "the emperor had no clothes" as it relates to Cubism and the fact that it's, well, pretty much bull****.

    ****, I'm a dork too.

Would it be better if they had called it kgs./sq. cm. ?

    No worries man :good

I'd love to see what a guy like Klitschko or Shavers rang up on a test like that though...and for that matter, what a guy like Spinks or Malignaggi would do.

I'm talking about PSI , as in ( pound force per square inch ).
