Brophy lost..... I expected a fortunate draw.

Roberts won.......should of used his jab from the start.......but he won.

Simmons obviously won........good corner work with regards to Magee (surprised me actually)

Simpson won.....but not like the scorecards were called either.

He was done after 4 and on the way out though i saw imo not just what he took in those rounds but time catching up.

He caught the wind in 5/6 and then slowly got on top and took home a win over the last 6 rounds.

I would be the 1st to say he lost if i thought so........i didn't/don't score rounds (baking) but he got on top when taking in the last 6 round from what i saw.

Ricky Burns was down via 6 rounds or 7 going into 8........he went to the wall/well and sounded him out.

If his hand was goosed his corner would of known or maybe did........and would of said/asked him to try coasting it given the scorecards.......but no.

    Burns impressed me and didn't....

Never saw the Slowey fight with Nesbitt............wanted to...............woulda been a belter i reckon.

    Attrition.

    Anyways.

First thought is you write in an annoying style (no offence) I thought it was a good card and obviously Burns was a little over eager/rusty. Not bad for matchroom's first show in scotland in a while and i look forward to the Sept bill. i agree simpson won but it was tight and would not have complained if choi got the nod.

Also Rocky Fielding done a job! says he only recently started to lift weights so I expect him to keep going and really turn it up in the next year to eighteen months.

was happy for wee simmy, some scary moments but he showed a big 'ole heart to get over the finishing line, poor laddie looked as though he was about to faint with exhaustion when the cameras were on him in his corner heading into the last round, but he held on for a great & important win against a fringe world class operator. Big win for wee simmie. Hope Eddie Hearn can finally land the wee man his big fight he deserves at long last.

I thought Ricky Burns put in a cracking performance against Gonzales, even though most didnt. Came out & was right on top of Gonzales from the first bell, didnt give the puerto rican time to breath, & the challenger was already switching in the third cos he was tiring having to throw constantly at the rickster just to keep him away. Ricky, in order to please the crowd, fought the other guys fight, took some big shots while getting into range cos of Gonzales big clothespole arms, & by the second half of the fight had forced the puerto rican into a tear up, then suckered Gonzales into unloading while Ricky was on the ropes with his gloves safely tucked up! After that the fight was rickys, & Ricky started to land at will & Gonzales was out of steam, out of ideas & out of heart couldnt wait to get back to the changing rooms early. Ricky showing what I said about him here a few weeks ago, he has progressed to be an all round fighter. He can box & brawl now, equally as well.

People who had Ricky losing every round are off their heads, all of a sudden the Watt haters on ESB were all in agreement with him there:lol: The irony isnt lost on me. Watt had one of those strange nights where he got an idea into his head, & wouldnt let it go. He seen Gonzales look slick on the pads, & immediately decided he was a future hall of famer who could do no wrong, & proceeded to kiss Jose's ass all night long, even when he had lost the fight Watt said- Ricky beat a superior fighter to himself tonight:huhStrange stuff from Watt! Hes always been tough on scottish fighters though, I think in an attempt at trying to come across 'impartial'

Seriously folks, watch the fight again tomorrow, & you will see that Ricky done a lot better than that daft commentator (whose name escapes me) & Watt were getting carried away about.

Aright Dunky and good to see ya around......kinda :nut

All jokes aside i enjoy ya response......true story.

Simpson is in line for Buckland..........nah sorry but he been there n done that with regards to the Lonsdale and yes outright.

Buckland as much as i hate to say it would be just another hard fight (and too much) that the boy just dosent need.........i canna think of another fighter on these shores with a record like John Simpsons......his easiest fight was taking on one of his mates (Appleby) and well nah.....he is surely due a gimme so to speak with regards to a title shot etc.

John said what many in boxing circles didn't know or forgot.......Choi was avoided.

    Anyways.........the Burns fight ?

I saw him over reaching n stretchin etc etc and CG not even stepping of........just leaning off and as Semtex says theres a bit of rust n eagerness involved but i found it hard to score those rounds to Ricky....aggression aside.

Watching later or tomorrow i probably could score it closer but anyways its how i saw it in front of me.

Its good to kinda be around HH:D Aye, I remember saying YEARS ago here that they had to strike while the iron was hot with simmy, too many domestic derbies would end in tears as in a derby, the opponents always bring their A game & its too tough to ask a guy to keep fighting them kinda fights. It never happened though, the iron was left to go cold & Simmie has had to tread water in the domestic pond to survive, but survive he has. Choi might be old, but even an old choi is fringe world class, that was a BIG win for Simpson.
I just hope Eddie Hearn breaks with Simpson tradition & tries to move simmy in the direction of a top 10 rating with one of the organisations, im sure the choi win will be a boost to his ranking, cos I would love to see the wee man get a shot at a world title. Its always been an ESB dream of mine here. Im sure Simpson got a top 10 world ranking after he beat Lyndsey.

As for the Rickster, thank **** for Tony Bellew as I thought I must have been losing my touch when it came to reading fights when I logged on here until I seen the big scouse banger was reading the fight like I was:good

Dont get me wrong, Gonzales looked good for the first 6 rounds. Its cos Ricky helped make him look good by fighting his fight. Ricky was just over eager, grinning and stuff during a fight isnt the Ricky Burns we are used to seeing. If Ricky had boxed carefully like he did against Katsidis, he would have got the job done easier, but it would have been a stinker, so Ricky forced the action, took risks & got the W.

Im a happy bunny tonight, after witnessing Ricky Burns boxing on the front foot again, & forcing another stoppage win. Box, brawl, ricky now has it all:smoke

Im the opposite. I normally find Watt unbearable, but the odd time he simply annoys me much to my joy.

Wasn't sure what happened there in the arena had heard wrist injury on my way out but to me watching it again on sky he went for it in the 7th and couldn't get Ricky out and he crumbled Ricky didn't do nothing to dishearten him he disheartened himself coz he's used to fighting guys who crumble when he hits them with those shots he's never faced a guy who comes back with his own shots after being hit.

Had Simpson/Choi a draw though I won't complain about a close win for Simpson.

    Had Burns down 7-2.

You say that Ricky didnt do anything do dishearten Gonzales, Gonzales disheartened himself, then go onto say that Gonzales crumbled cos he isnt used to a guy who 'comes back with his own shots'

Well, it was those 'come back' shots which made him crumble!

    The mind boggles:patsch
