    I had it 9 - 3 Calzaghe. Possibly 8 - 4.

    Think I had him winning rounds 5 - 11.

I think it is fair to say that a fight can be even in more than one way. Each round can be competitive with one guy having a slight edge, say one punch ahead. In a 12 rounder he wins 12-0. Still an even fight. The other type is the one referred to in most posts in this thread, that is, even in terms of number of rounds won. Calzaghe-Kessler was probably most even in the first sense?

On the positive side, it's a dedicated bunch of proclaimed Calzaghe Nut huggers only, about 10-15 posters at the max.:good

Yup. Same scorecard as mine. 9-3. Kessler won the final round because Calzaghe took the round off.

I remember scoring round 5 for Kessler and was surprised to read on this site after the fight that very few others had done that.

With rounds 2, 4 and 12 also for Kessler and round 7 a draw I had it 116-113.

Thanks dude. My point is, that Calzaghe got all the close rounds even if he did not connect with more clean punches. The rounds in which he outjabbed Kessler was the ones from 6 to 11 minus the 7th . The other close rounds could have gone either way, but Joes punch output is just very impressive, which is why its the easiest to give the round to Joe.

But it all depends on how you score a fight. Jabs that hit a guard shouldnt count imo.

The progress and development of a round (the balance) and punches that affect this process is what I look for when scoring fights.

115-114 might be a bit off, but Joe winning by two rounds is propably the right one.

I agree here. Emanuel stewart was totaly up cals azz the entire fight, and I thought Kess was actualy winning alot of rounds up to the mid point.

I am losing alot of repsect for these analyst's and their bias.

Just found this while doing some spring cleaning. :D

Guess I gave Kess a couple more rounds than the majority (everyone seems to agree on 2, 4, and 12).

I'll have to rewatch to see what I might have been rewarding in 1 and 7 that they weren't. I remember forcing myself to be unbiased throughout while scoring and pretty much accepting that Kessler had lost going into the 12th. Then jumping out of my seat when I saw his determination in that round and for a brief moment believed he may pull off a miracle.

Rounds 5 & 7 were clearly Joe's rounds. Dunno what fight you were watching. Perhaps you get confused that a lovely looking uppercut or 2 that doesnt make your opponent blink makes up for taking 100 shots.

Kessler lacked the heart to put in a full 12 round effort. He took some critical late rounds off then flurried in round 12 when it was way too little, too late (ala Judah v Mayweather).

I noticed one thing when watching it again - Cal doesn't pull his arms back to punch while kessler throws full punches. But Joes speed makes him miss a few big shots - remember it takes a lot more energy to miss than to hit someones guard as ALi-Foreman and Tysons career have shown. Thats why Kessler is so tired after rd 5. He himself stated that he was "finished" coming into rd 6.
Although he thinsk he may have overtrained.

Very close to mine. Only difference is the first round to Kessler. Many have called that round a draw.
