The evidence is just overwhelming that he was born in or right around 1930.
Most close to him did not believe otherwise.
His appearance is not a good measure-many look oler than they are without being a hard living, often imprisoned hard drinker or alcoholic.

He looks much older than he is, a bigger gap than Sonny Liston.
And like Sonny, at least later in his career he seems to have become an alcoholic.
