I like quigg for what he has achieved and is a decent solid boxer, but the guy has absolutely no personality. He can't sell himself and struggles to form sentences in interviews to the point where you cringe listening to him trying to talk. I know boxers have media training but he needs personality training on top.
Sports people generally are pretty ba.nal to listen to. It's always the same old cliches that come out. Quigg's lack of vocab doesn't really bother me tbh. He always comes over as sincere, if inarticulate. He'll become more comfortable as time goes on, like Kell is.
Rubbish, if he cant string a sentence together now after the amount of TV work he has done he aint gonna get better....
Yes that is why I like quigg because he is sincere, even when he won the belt he said he wasn't a real champ. But he has done so much tv work including punditry that I think he needs some curricular study on the side for his vocational ability because it's seriously holding him back.
:good There are probably (definitely) 6 year olds out there who can communicate bester than Quigg. Doesn't help that his living is taking punches to the head.
He visited the boxing club in Chester i used to train at. Really nice lad he apparently left school at age 14/15 and never went back to there or college as he just wanted to box.
I think it was Ricky Hatton who said he was a nice kid but he wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with him.
Yeah, this is about right. Think of footballers like Rooney and Gerrard, and also boxers like Liam Smith - they're tedious to listen to. It's not helped by the fact that they are not the sharpest tools in the box and have strange accents to boot. They get trained to 'handle the media', but in reality this means training on how to avoid saying stooopid or offensive things on camera. The end result is dull answers and a lack of personality. But who cares. Let their personality shine through in the ring, not via an interview.
