This is why I love Steve, man knows his guns. He knows his Martial Arts. Now you may say that this has nothing to do with a traingle choke. But for a MArtial artist, I want to listen what this man has to teach me. Hes fat as a whale now but he knows some tactics and strategies out there and the mans still quick. silva is obviously humoring segal, silva is a clownatsch he is probably a fan too. Those old school guys like BJ's teacher don't show him unpractical action movie garbage and that is why he listens to them Just look up the punch counters he is teaching cops in training. Elite boxers work their asses off to get half the timing you would need to pull off the crap segal teaches :rofl
I'm with Chimba. Even though I do tend to believe Silva is a clown he's also an incredibly(if not most) skillful MMA fighter to grace the earth. And I say that with much disdain because I was rooting AGAINST him every fight since A.Silva-Franklin 2. So he obviously knows what he's learning and applies it very well. Just because a lot of the stuff Seagal taught him is impractical doesn't make Seagal a dumbass joke. Seagal knows his **** better than anyone on this forum and that much is guaranteed. Silva is smart enough to listen to all of the information that is provided to him, try it, apply it to his style and then use it in the fight. If you look at the kick vs Henderson and compare it to the Vitor kick you'll is it's obviously more accurate(could be luck I guess) but it is also much snappier and looks crisper. I think he throws his hips forward more and he's on his toe from the get the beginning of the kick. Clearly a more practiced kick.
It looks like Nog does believe it in this video. He says that Anderson used this kick before, but now it looks better. Eddie Futch was never as great a fighter as Frazier, Bowe, or McCallum. Futch was able to teach them something. Cus D'Amato was never as great a fighter as Torres, Patterson, or Tyson. D'Amato still taught them something. Seagal is a long time martial artist. Just because Seagal isn't a proven mixed martial artist doesn't mean he can't show Silva how to improve his front kick.
Thank you Sir. Its not a question on whether you like Seagal or hate him. Fedor can kill anyone that trains him and Ive seen videos of him listening. Once you underestimate anyone and think you're the mack and everybodys a joke, you might as well pack it in. Machida credits his dad for his success in MMA, youve seen his dad?, Id take Seagal over Lyotos daddy anyday. You can really tell the reasonable posters here, Achiles, Sugargold (the mainstays basically)they probly cant stand Seagal, theyre just being rational about things.
This is true but, because some people just have the physical gifts to take advantage of other's knowledge and make it to that elite level.
Nobody is above learning that's not what im arguing but, would you really take somebody seriously in ANY other profession if a lot of what they were teaching is either outdated or not practical? :rasta <--you :yep
Seems to me you are the one not taking it seriously, Silva looked like and it appears he has interest in learning what Seagal has to say.
So I found these gifs on another forum thought it could clear things up a bit. This content is protected This content is protected http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f2/gifs-spiderman-does-whatever-spider-can-1561425/
I agree, as far as the front kick goes. :good the front kick that landed on henderson didnt hit him in the chin. If it had the shot probably would have effected Dan more, but Henderson always had a fantastic chin anyway so I doubt it would have ko'd him.
Agreed. Junior Dos Santos landed a similar teep on Roy Nelson IIRC, I guess Seagal taught it to him as well It was a sweet shot, it happens. Nothing to do with Seagal IMO, especially considering the footage here, which shows him teaching Anderson how to kick a small boy by the looks of it
