Dude, 48 bouts sometimes isn't enough. Most amateurs have a lot of rounds logged in. Even Pacquiao had 60 something amateur bouts before he went pro. And he still got clocked within his first 10 pro fights.

I had it 116-112 to Chavez, great fight, not quite as good as the other bout, but still pretty damned good. Great to see Chavez get the win, too many folk hate on him due to who he is but it's always fun to see him and he seems like the type of guy who will be in entertaining bouts until he loses.

He hasn't been matched even remotely tough until the last dozen or so (and still hasn't really faced anyone world class, with Duddy and Zbik coming closest).

His first thirty-odd fights were of the same soft-touch variety that most pros usually graduate from in their first ten.

There was over 600 combined lands, think 1600 combined throws, though I may be wrong on that

Had Zbik forced Jr. to fight from outside where he is just about inept and made it a boxing match like he did early on, he would have cruised to victory.

How about the round by round breakdown on the thrown and landed...

The decision was fine, it was a close, but fairly clear win for Chavez Jr imo. Zbik might have landed more(you can hit Chavez Jr with everything) and did well early, but from the middle rounds to the end Jr was walking through Zbik's stuff and landing better punches for the most part. As expected, Zbik didn't have the power to make Jr back off or the boxing ability to stay away from him. Perfect match for Jr to win a paper belt.

That said, Zbik's camp has a legitimate complaint about the ref work on this one. Jr landed a lot of uncalled low blows, and deserved at least one point deduction somewhere in there. Jr also basically lunged in with his head down to land said low blows repeatedly. But they should have expected Jr to get the benefit of the doubt all-around.

Strongly disagree, Johnson's main problem is age BUT he knows his craft very well, and has solid skills, Chavez Jr is just living off of his father's name, if it weren't for his fighter he would be alot like the guy that got destroyed by Garcia earlier.

Despite the fact that Zbik fought a bad fight I really can't see how Jr gets 7 or 8 rounds, I know his shots were harder but he was still getting outworked while getting hit clean and often through out the majority of the fight. There has got to be a huge line of guys wanting a shot at Jr, Pavlik and Cotto must be really excited, Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Kirkland is able to beat him.
