Picking a heavy is cheating a little since Toney never was a legitimate heavy himself. Lower down, the pickings are extremely slim. Sub-200 pounders I can think of are maybe Marciano and possibly Louis, who scaled below 200 a couple of times. Marciano could grind out a stoppage win via accumulation and Louis hit like a truck and had great accuracy. But it would not be easy for either man. Other than those two...jeez I dunno. Foster? Moorer? Holyfield?

It's not power .. It's about speed, power and stamina .. A 1987 Tyson is an obvious choice .. Other than that I say Joe Louis, Joe Frazier and Rid**** Bowe ..
Id pick Louis and Tyson for sure. The way Toney liked to stand stationary and use upper body movement combined with their hand speed and power would spell doom for him.
Pretty much how i see it, anyone who stood in front of Tyson normally went to sleep after a few rounds. The guys who survived were the movers. Toney, would be a sitting duck, its not like he has a Douglas/Lewis type size advantage to at least keep Tyson at bay.
Harry Greb at 160 over 15 rounds. This is the worst possible match-up for a weight drained Toney who was often lethargic and fought sporadically in this division. Greb would be forcing the pace with speed and accuracy and shifting angles, wearing out a Toney who would be looking for breaks in the action. This wouldn't be the unimaginative Sam Peters clubbing away. And Greb had enough clout to have Brennan all but stopped after 12. Toney quits on the stool after 13.
What's so funny? Not saying he would but under cruiserweight he's a great choice to at least send in. Many consider him the most devasting puncher in 175 history. Foster put some serious damage on people. Picking heavyweights is a long way out of context.
I'll grant you Tyson but if Jersey Joe could have/should have decisioned (granted past prime) Joe Louis I see Toney with his superior chin lasting the distance against almost any version (Excepting Schmeling 2) of Louis.
Interesting choice but having never seen him fight we don't really get to make a solid argument either way but Toney has handled massive amounts of volume in the first McCallum fight and Greb doesn't have the reach of Nunn. An in shape (which he would be for fighting the GOAT volume puncher) Toney lays on the ropes and makes Greb come to him. It really sucks because of the lack of footage on Greb but in that sort of fight it's hard to pick against Toney. To stop Toney you need one shot power on the inside.
