Joshua is getting flak for his calibre of opposition ,but I can't see much wrong with it.He passed his first real test against Whyte and can now step up the quality in the New Year. Guys like: Pianeta Charr Ustinov Leapai Chisora Wach Duhaupas Would give him rounds and present an assortment of styles ,ie short,tall,orthodox,southpaw. Then with 22 fights under his belt he could tangle with whoever is still standing in the division.What say you?
I also think Cunningham who gave Fury problems and just lost on points to the current IBF number one.
for all his shortcomings, Chisora has only been beaten by world champions, a good test and certainly not a bum ! I think Fury beating Klit has done wonders for del boys reputation as he got properly worked over by him
Cunningham is game as would Teper. Chisora looks to be next in April which seems to suggest that Joshua may only fight 3-4 times this year.
Most heavyweights are worse than Whyte imo. The only ones better than him are Joshua, Fury, Klitschko, Wilder and Povetkin. Erkan Teper would probably be a good fight for Joshua next for the european. Then I'd look at fighting someone like Pulev or Glazkov before a world title.
Most of those names would not be a step up from Whyte. Pianeta was KO'd in 1 round by an old Chagaev last time out. Chisora strikes me as a fighter who not longer has the ambition, and would probably take the fight for the payday only really. Yes, they are the kind of opponent Hearn will be looking at, NOT a step up, they are looking for a few steps DOWN. They don't want many fights like the Whyte fight along the way.
Arnold Gjergjaj, who is unbeaten and quite highly ranked would be decent. Downside is he's 6ft 5 inches, maybe a bit tall for the risk/reward.
