On a side note, what you think about Fedor in this situation?

Then why is it that Silva is basically at the top? I mean, don't get me wrong, he can wrestle too, but only when he absolutely has to.

Most of the time, he's winning with his striking.

Silva has good jiu jitsu though, which is how he pulled out the win against Chael Sonnen who took him down at will. Silva hasn't fought a lot of top notch wrestlers. Hendo was the guy before that...and I think Hendo fought a bad second round.

If you watch MMA he shouldn't be an unknown to you, after Fyodor beat Filipovic Barnett and Kharitonov were viewed as his biggest threats, everybody wanted those fights.

Seriously. After the Fyodor loss he spoke about having played russian Roulette :scaredas:

Sergei won the Combat Sambo World Championships....Big Nog and Werdum couldn't get the better of him on the ground.

Kharitonov was an Amateur Boxer and won a Silver at the Central Asian Games, won Silver at the Asian Championships and Silver at the 2004 Russian Championships. He could have competed at the Olympics in 2004 but decided to fight in the PRIDE HW GP instead.

Most professional boxers, even Champions, don't have the amateur pedigree or success that Kharitonov has under his belt. He's not as sharp or fast as he was 3 years or so but he's a very good boxer. Watch his fight vs Pedro Rizzo. Keep talking out of your ass though.

True but he's more of a sambo artist than a boxer..(he even uses judo throws in some of his fights)...

During his Pride days he was the best body puncher in MMA. I hope we get to see that again hopefully vs Barnett. If he can keep it standing he'll tool Barnett same way Aleksandr Emelianenko was in their fight.

he's got a solid chin....Arlovski caught him several times and it had no effects on him...Same goes with Overeem...He caught him many times too..

He did get stopped in his most recent K1 kickboxing fight (looked like a temple/equalibriuum shot) but aside from that has always shown a great chin and is a tough *******. In the first Overeem fight after his arm/shoulder was mangled he took so many shots and was still pissed when the fight was stopped lol

I thought Arlovski was looking very good until he got hurt and he caught Sergei with some hard clean shots that made me gasp but he just ate that **** and kept coming Terminator style lol

His post fight interview was brilliant.

    - "Russia is the best " Americans boo lol

    - "i don't care what any 'experts' have to say i am winning this tournemant"

I know...In his first fight he ate a crazy amount of knees right in the face...the only reason he couldn't move was because his shoulder was ****ed up...but man...he's a tuff mother****er...

Sergei is VERY tough. But his not a smart fighter. He fancys himself as a striker but the reality is he throws sloppy combo's and sometimes only one punch at a time. And never moves his head. In a pure striking contest he's distinctly average.
Sergei though is your classic fighter that blows hot and cold. His win over AA will flatter him for some. But the fact AA's chin is made of bone china doesn't make the win significant for me at all. Against any of the other heavys in this GP he would loose.

Disagree I had Kharitonov and Barnett as about 50/50 to win that side of the bracket.

Kharitonov would destroy Rogers and he will give Josh big problems.

Josh would sub him. And i fancy Rogers to KO him cold. Iv seen enough of Sergei over the years to see that his ring intelligence is the primary reason why he cant mix it up with the best in his division. Plus his had a number of serious injury's over the years. Hopefully he's over those.

Sergei would not lose to Rogers.
