It's for this reason I am willing to cut the guy a little slack, as long as it isn't a trend.

I'd rather see an actual middleweight fight though.

Middleweight isn't stacked, and if Unification was on his mind the other belt holders are in no rush to get beat senseless and their straps taken.

Jeez give the dude a break. Martinez just finally got recognized as an elite fighter by winning the middleweight lineal championship and plus at 35 you can't count out the possibility that Martinez might turn old overnight. Can't really blame him for wanting a big money fight now. Personally I would rather see a fight with Cotto than Mosley.

Martinez could make good money fighting:

    Paul Williams at 154-160

    Pavlik at 166

    Lucian Bute at 166-68

    Miguel Cotto at 154

This isn't about the money he could make fighting Shane. This is about making money without taking any sort of risk. That is called chicken-****-cherry-picking.

Its looking like its going to be Mosley-Mora anyways, which sucks as a ppv main event. But as far as Martinez defending against Mosley I don't have a problem with it. In a weak division Mosley is a good choice not to mention the monetary and recognition side of things for Martinez. And I have no doubt Mosley would have beaten all three fighters that Pavlik succesfully defended his title against-Rubio, Espino, and Lockett.

I hope Mosely does fight Mora. Martinez does not "deserve" to beat up on Shane just because it's profitable. Shane is a warrior, and he'd probably take the fight, and the idea of a freaking clown like Martinez beating up on someone who gave as much to the sport as Mosely is disgusting.

Ya -- great champ! Compares himself to Monzon, and then calls out a 39 year old welterweight:patsch

Boo has become a Martinez hater just because he took Pavlik's virginity? Oh wait, no, a pensioner took Pavlik's virginity.

Who comes after Mosely? Cermeno? No -- Nehomar is not very profitable. Maybe Darchinyan would be a better choice?

I wouldn't say Martinez deserves a big money fight with Mosley but it makes a lot of sense on his part. A Mosley fight would pay him well and Martinez would be a solid favorite in a good fight. 160 has very few options right now so Mosley is a solid option. If after that fight Martinez started taking on Chavez, Manfredo, Ouma and fights like that than I'd complain about his title reign. So far his 160 resume is Williams and Pavlik so a guy like Mosley being the "weak" link in that resume is pretty good. But, I just read that its looking like Mosley is taking on Mora on Sept 18 so this is probably all talk anyways.
