he is a lot slower but more powerful. hell beat froch. ward is to fast with feet for him to be effective with his power shots cause, alot like chico, he has slow feet an generates NO power if his feet arent planted...
Everyone wants to give him **** for not KO'ing Johnson into the rafters (like any ever has), but I was impressed as hell with him last night. Incredible movement and footwork, excellent defense, and fought an EXTREMELY intelligent fight against Johnson. My only complaint about Bute is that his accuracy when on the attack isn't great -- missed a lot of punches. But great performance overall.
He showed a lot of fast, intelligent, testing movement similar to Martinez last night, also his use of the constantly plying jab, and low guard, low right at times was similar. They're both looking to solve fighters and clearly have excellent preparation. I like how he adjusts his guard. There's a reason why his uppercut is trademark; it's speed is faster than some punches Martinez throws, and it's a game ender against just about anyone else but Glen. Very impressed with his fight.
Stance wise yes. But as noted before Martinez seems to be more comfortable with just countering while I think Bute needs more control over the ring generalship to be as effective as he can. Then again often he lands that devastating left uppercut to the body after backing up. Pretty complete fighter to me- whe'll see that challenged in his next fight hopefully.
