I think Martinez should get himself right and cash out in a final showdown with GGG, pass the torch and lose to the heir apparent rather than a B level fighter. It will be better for his legacy and bank account.

Retire or fight GGG symbolically to pass down the torch.

    You're done Sergio, DONE.

How is getting knocked in his last fight good for his legacy?

Some people out there actually think losses have ZERO negative impact on ones' resume or legacy. And they will argue for that opinion as though it isn't the slightest bit questionable.

(not sayin' the dude you quoted feels that way)

Losing by stopage to GGG is more defendable than losing by stoppage to someone else. :hat And not only by stoppage by the way.

So I wouldn't say it's better for his legacy but less worse.

Think he will probably want to put on a better performance in his last fight so will have another fight

He was beaten last night by a bloke from England. Goes by the name of Martin Murray. Put him on his ass too.

If he gets knocked out by GGG, people will incline towards seeing GGG as better than Martinez forever. If they never fight, then its hard for people to argue that GGG is better than Martinez.

Because he's fighting the best, and losing to the best instead of another guy like Murray who likely isn't ever going to be elite (as good as he is). Louis losing against Marciano isn't held against him because he was on the slide. Same situation with Martinez who has actually been over rated recently imo. He won't lose much of his standing by losing to the next big thing in GGG.
Once you get more familiar with boxing you'll understand things like this and realise that 0's don't mean much when you're done, it's who you beat/fight.

People will incline towards seeing GGG has beaten a weakened Martinez and depending of his achievements following that win, they'll decide if he was better or not. That's assuming if they fight. I don't believe Dibella will ever make this fight anyway to be honest.
