I have said many times that a loss can brake fighters at times, and some never seem the same after a loss, even if it is not a brutal loss and just a points defeat, Im convinced it can cause a downfall. Not always of cause.
In the case of Dawson, I was never convinced and predicted a win for Pascal and said Ward would beat him easy.

That makes him fragile too. Not his fault but another ingredient he doesn't have to be persistently effective in a fight to fight basis

he might be done but, that last fight he tore his rotator cuff in his left shoulder in the 3rd round and still could had got the dec. he should had been able to beat that dude with 1 arm pretty easily but he didn't. close fight where he shoulda got the dec

Johnson isn't top level and I had Johnson winning by 7-5 type decision. Still Dawson showed a lot of heart in that fight and gave him a rematch

I'm not sure if that's fair. Maybe he just needed more time off after that Campilo fight. He is most likely done now after his last loss as well

He dropped down to a weight he hadn't fought at in six and a half years and was so weakened by it he

Got beaten up every day in that camp by 12-1 novice (Lionell Thompson)

Knocked senseless by a way past it Edison Miranda who has never beaten anyone world class above 160 even when he was in his prime
(Thompson and Miranda would suffer stoppage loses in their next fights, literally a couple of weeks later)

And then get dropped three times and stopped by the dynamite punching Ward who has never even floored a world class SMW before

I agree. The Barrera loss really derailed Hamed's career, likewise for Toney and the Jones loss

Dawson had no business losing to the likes of Pascal. The Ward fight was tricky to predict, because no one knew how the weight loss would affect Dawson

I really just didnt think Dawson was as good as many others felt, and felt Pascal would outwork him even though Pascal can fade.

I did prediction threads for both

In peak form he was a top fighter, but seemed to have issues. Taking rounds off, constantly changing trainers etc, etc

Pascal is a four round fighter, with a really amateurish style. Dawson had no business losing to that kind of fighter.

  10. Chad Dawson is a mystery, but I don’t know if he ever really wanted this the way others did. As we’ve seen with Victor Ortiz, if you’re not all in, a rude awakening is coming your way. And for Chad it did. This isn’t criticism either, sometimes people have that warrior mindset, and sometimes a person’s brain functions as it should, weighing the pros and cons, going through a psychological struggle, and maintaining a functioning balance between personal goals and family obligations.

Chad Dawson is the man’s man. He’s the delivery man that wears his seat belt, and the roofer that wears his harness.

He did though and it wasnt a shock to me

Dawson looked good as he was a young fighter fighting ageing fighters. Look at the age of many of his opponents and remember some of these were a few years ago and that Dawson was younger than he is now

    Hopkins 47
    Hopkins 46
    Diaconu 32
    Pascal (he lost)
    Johnson 40
    Tarver 40
    Tarver 39
    Johnson 39

When he fought a younger prime fighter, who I dont think would have been a top LHW a few years ago he was beaten. Many fighters look impressive against older fighters and I cant see why nobody else noticed the difference in his age to his opposition.

Remember how I used to rate Cleverly above Dawson at LHW? Well...

When I used to rate Cleverly above Dawson at LHW, people used to disagree but over time It has been proven again for all that said otherwise.

    Lets look into this now

Cleverly beats undefeated top 10 LHW Murat inside the distance, who went on to push Hopkins to points in a tough fight

Cleverly beats undefeated top 10 LHW Bellew, who went on to beat top 10 rated comp and go on to challenge for a title

Cleverly beats Mohammedi who is now looking in line for a title shot

Cleverly beats Kuziemski in 4 rounds who after was a good enough opponent for Pascal and took Pascal the distance

Cleverly beats Krasniqi whos not been beaten since

Cleverly beats Karpency by complete shut out who goes on to beat C Dawson

I was one of the few posters who predicted a Pascal victory over Dawson and that Ward would beat Dawson with ease.
I also rated Cleverly above Dawson and now you can all see where I was coming from.

What this has also shown is how good Kovalev is

I don't think you are being fair to Dawson here. He has come off to back to back disastrous losses and still has not mentally recovered from that.

Hopkins is still one of the top guys at lhw. So Dawson should get some credit for those wins,

Tarver was never that good to begin with but Johnson was still a good fighter in their first fight

I like Dawson, but I’m hoping this serves as motivation for him to retire. His timing and reflexes are gone and there’s never any coming back from that. If he fights anyone decent again, he’ll get knocked out.
