I don't know about that, there have been quite a few boxers who have been very good heavyweights who started boxing close to the same age as Mitchell did.

Grant beat some good boxers with a late start to boxing was the 90s a weak era? Was the 70s a weak era? Foreman started boxing at a late age and dominated the division. Same can be said for boxers like Marciano and Liston. Mitchell has had no where near the success as these boxers either.
