I nearly bet on Shabranssky, but to 'convince' myself I watched the Parker fight again and it scared me off. Thankfully.
Lucky dude, a lot of guys had me doubting myself on here I thought I was underrating Slava but I guess I was spot on.
I've learned to take people's opinions on fighters with a pinch of salt. I heard Julian Williams was the real deal last week from a number of posters. People have been singing Shabranskyy's praises so I've been stupid enough to consistently put his name down as a reason why LHW is a great division (it is a top division) despite haven't watched anything other than a KO. For Shabranskyy to be dominated like that by Barrera does make me write him off as a future name. He'd have to prove everyone otherwise in the meantime. I agree with what another poster said somewhere, this fight arguably puts into perspective how good Andre Ward and thus Sergey Kovalev is.
There's a notable difference between Beterbiev and Shabberz but yes they do have similar aspects. Beterbiev is pretty stiff whereas Barrera is fluid. That said, Beterbiev beat the Cuban Jose Larduet in the amateurs.
Hehehe, I was wrong? I didn't get a chance to see it. Ah well, happens in boxing. It's interesting; I was so sure that not only was Shabranksyy was better than Barrera, but that he was closer in style to Kovalev than Barrera making him a better choice for a tune up in preparation for Kov than Barrera was. This makes Ward's win look better which he needed since there are people out there that not only don't consider him a real champion, but have lost all faith in him.
I hadn't scouted Shabranskyy enough to have an opinion on the fight, but damn, that defense was offensive. He's lucky Barrera didn't knock his head into the 4th row with as many times as he was serving it up on a silver platter.
I think Williams is a good fighter very talented but hes chin let him down, I had him comfortably out boxing charlo so I think anyone picking him against charlo was onto something from a technical stand point. But i think every fighter has to be doubted to an extent until he has taken a good shot on the chin.
