Wow, Calloway must have REALLY gone downhill. This is a guy who gave good fights to Chagaev and McCline back in the day.

Well, Chagaev knocked him out in the second round over four years ago...since then he's been knocked out three more times, before Briggs. :conf

No offense to Calloway, but this wasn't exactly a surprise result. I'm sure he tried but it was always looking a tall order.

Briggs is fighting often and getting knockouts. It's one of the most reliable routes to a title shot for a veteran fighter.

Promoters like knockout guys and they like former names, they want to sell tickets. If Briggs keeps bowling them over, regardless of quality, he'll get either a top 10 fight or a gift title fight in the end. Until then he'll continue this path.

There are quite a few veteran heavyweights looking for that 'one last shot' that could benefit from doing what Briggs is doing. Instead of taking an age between fights and then being comfortable to win on points.

I saw video of the WTFical weigh-in for his last fight, and I think they actually said 268, instead of the boxrec listing of 258. The woman announcing the weight sounded like she said sixty-eight to me anyway. But, I have no idea. When you weigh that much, it could be the difference between a big meal and a lot of water, and clothes worn.

I thought she definitely said 268!! Don't think anyone would disagree. Mis reported that he weighed in at 258. So he actually cut off 2lbs

yeah....it wasnt that long ago he fought 4 times in 4 years....

he gets zero credit for these guys hes fighting.....since he lost to ibragimov hes had 4 fights... those 4 guys combined for nearly 50 losses......and calloway was a 40 year old out of shape cruiserweight still outweighed by 50 pounds...... whoopie doo shannon briggs....your pathetic...boxrec knows youre a joke...still ranking you the 77th best heavyweight in the world...kinda hard to move up in rankings when guys like calloway were ranked 97 in the world
