To me Larry's seemingly miraculous recovery and getting back in control within a round was one of his finest moments. Though Iron Mike wasn't quite the puncher Shavers was, he was a better finisher...but still see Larry getting back up off the canvas and stopping even a prime Mike at that point in his career. But that's just me.
YES I agree completely RC. And while Shavers has been slammed for limited endurance (given the energy output it was hard to avoid), showed great fortitude in fighting back to his limits when exhausted & battered. Even before his Epic knock down, both eyes were hurt & Cosell is talking about blood pouring from one of them. Many HWs would have been less aggressive, but Shavers gave it his all. Holmes absorbed more punishment before & after hitting the canvas. It would be a rare HW indeed who would not at least hit the canvas from that single unexpected blow. Maybe Chuvalo, McCall, old Foreman? The story: https://www.thefightcity.com/sept-28-1979-holmes-vs-shavers-heavyweight-boxing/
