Naseen Hamed was not a particularly clean fighter throughout his career. He wrestled Soto and even MAB in their fight and spent his career throwing backhanded jabs. If MAB was to be dq'd in the fight, then Hamed could have been dq'd for the headlock out of frustration incident earlier in the fight. I've no idea why the ts started this thread in the 1st place. Ah, I think I do, lol.
Yes. Marco was so confident of how high up in the score he was that he willingly commited a blatant foul knowing he'd have a point deducted.
One word might sum up all you're saying.MEXICAN.Hamed had fought a few,but none quite of that ilk.Erik Morales wouldn't have been pulling any dirty late strokes.Hed have got Naz out of there long before then.I suspect the legend thats still fighting might have done also if he hadn't been ducked.
Yet bounced back and came back better then ever like a true champion... Great champions bounce back... Hamed walked out on boxing and straight into an all you can eat buffet
Yes.Its called being a hungry fighter.Hamed was the best and most exciting wed had for a long time.Involved in some of the best wed seen for years, consistently. He was a big fish in a little pond.Barrera was a big fish in a big river.Bet he couldn't afford to retire after those losses, even if he wanted to.Hamed was already rich long before their fight.
Naz was terrified of Marquez Got to feel for Naz though - just so happened to be fighting while those three badasses were active
Please tell me you're being ironic. As well as the obvious Soto fight, Naz was well known for being very physical with his opponents. Throwing Laureano Ramirez halfway across the ring; dragging Tom Johnson around in a headlock; wrestling Belcastro and Robinson to the floor; whacking Armando Castro when he was down. Hamed was a lot stronger than he is often given credit for, and had a geninue nasty streak in the ring. He sailed close to the wind in a lot of his fights, and to be fair I don't think he has ever made a big deal about what Barrera did in the 12th round of their fight.
Naz ducked Morales?? it's the other way round. TWICE. :deal Naz never ducked a fighter in his life. and don't say Marquez. Marquez was the NO.1 contender for ages but he didn't fancy it. if he did, he would have enforced it or had Naz stripped. Marquez was offered half a Mill (great money for Featherweights) but did nothing but complain. he tried every trick in the book to halt the fight. it worked. Naz wasn't going to bring his career to a halt for some two bit nobody (at the time) he was the star of the division so wanted whoever wanted some of it. most didn't. and had Naz of fought Morales instead of Barrera, he would have sparked him out. Morales wasn't as disciplined as Barrera that night. not as tight with his defence. Morales would go forward and give Naz the opportunities he'd want. when that happens, it's good night. saying Morales knocks Naz out is funny. Morales didn't have the power to do that. and Naz had a great chin. it isn't happening.
Barrera bounced back because he was in his prime. Naz wasn't. his love of boxing and training properly were well over. plus, Naz had all the money in the world considering he was the biggest star in the division. Barrera didn't make that kind of money until years later.
it's the other way round. trust me. Marquez did everything to make sure he never went anywhere near a ring with Naz in it. :deal do some research and you'll see.
The bully basically got bullied. There were many times in his career when Hamed humiliated his opponents so he can have no complaints when a superior fighter did it to him.
i agree with Naz being a bully and getting it back was fair comment, but i disagree about Barrera being the superior fighter. when Naz was prime and focused, nobody was beating him. he had some wars due to his mentality of liking a fight, but he always came out on top. he never really looked like losing in those fights when you watch them back, it's just when watching live peoples emotions get the better of them. that was the best that Barrera could look. the best tactics. Naz looked like ****. the worst he's ever looked. so it's easy to see what the best Naz would have done. also, Naz was loading up the whole fight. if he would have just got it into his head that it was a points job, and looked to just win the rounds instead of looking to KO him with every punch, Naz could have easily come out on top. people go on like Barrera dominated as well when he really didn't. it was a close fight that he won. he didn't outclass Naz like many say. Barrera was tighter and kept his shots short so made Naz pay some times when he was winding them up and not focusing on his defence. unless you think winning by 3 points (my card) is dominating? Naz seems to be one of those fighters that people seem to forget what he did in boxing. he has a great resume no doubt. was a great fighter with a top range skill set. if people don't like him for what he did outside the ropes, then fair enough. but you can't rubbish what he did inside of them.
