Can you link to or quote this rule? Because the IBF rules that were in force for this fight clearly say differently, and they have already been quoted in this thread and several hundred times previously.
he was zoned out... the same way malignaggi got saved by smoger. and this is after that long ass count while he was sitting in the corner like a baby lamb
It seems that most people don't understand what 'saved by the bell' means in terms of actual boxing rules. It simply means that the bell cannot stop a count. Bute went down with a couple of seconds left in the round, being saved by the bell would have been the bell ringing two seconds into the count, the referee stopping counting with Bute still slumped on the floor and the fight going to the cards. Bute was not saved by the bell, that's why the count had to be completed and he still had to get up.
If Bute was American...the brits would **** on him and call him an american hype job... and i would sadly agree.
I was at that fight (although pretty high up) and I remember thinking that Bute beat the count legitimately but was unfit to continue. Had Marlon Wright stopped the fight with no time left on the clock then it would have caused a riot at the Bell Center.
That is your speculation so STFU, facts are that Andrade was out of the neutral corner, an as the rules say it, he should of stayed in the neutral corner. But all this is irrevelant due to the fact that there were only 2 seconds left on the clock when Bute got dropped. He WAS KO"ed BUT, At the end of the 12th round when there isn't anymore time on the clock, The fighter only has to get up his feet and the round is over, there is no need for him to be able to continue, because there is no time left The difference with Meldrick Taylor vs JCC, is that there were still time on the clock after the 10 count, there were 5 seconds to the fight left. Bute even with an "normal" 10 count wouldn't have had any time on the clock left THAT is a major difference between the two fights, and IS the only reason you can't compare the two of them
But since he is not American the Yanks & Brits are shitting on him and call him overated , and put him as low as they can in their top10 at 168 pounds.
A GREAT come back victory and moment was ruined and instead we have a controversial call left for debate for years to come. I know one thing if Richard Steele was ref that night the outcome would have been different.
It is a basic boxing rule regardless of organizations. The referee in every case much check the fighters condition after the mandatory 8 count and decide to stop it or let him fight. It is also a basic rule that the timekeeper must wait for the ref if there's an incident at the end of a round, such as a knockdown being counted. Take a look at the video: the ref issues the mandatory 8, but "forgets" to check Bute's condition (because he was clearly in no fighting shape), and lets him continue, and only then the bell sounds! I call myself a Bute fan and he kicked Librado's ass in the rematch so this argument is badly out of date. But Marlon Wright clearly made a wrong decision letting Bute finish when he was in no shape.
