Should Casey have turned down Rigo and fought Kiko?

Have you even seen the fight? Rigo just picked him apart from range until Casey started to feel the power. Then when Casey backed off.. he just got picked off even more. And this was in just 3 minutes.

Willie Casey was clearly out of his depth but it as a hell of a dominating performance away from home by the Cuban.

Kiko Martinez would have beaten Casey anyway IMO.

Rigo V Poonsawat could be exciting! As for Casey - 2/3 preparation fights and he will be backin the mix at Euro level.

No his management made the right decision he has probably made a bit of money from it and he got stopped in one round by body shots basically so its not taken anything out of him.

He will probably end up fighting for the Euro title again anyway some point down the line and even if not he can still say he was Euro champion and took on Rigondeaux who will probably go onto big things at world level.

everyone is vastly overrating kiko on this thread what has he done
    he caught dunne cold
was thoughraly outboxed by munroe twice and looked average against martiriosan
casey i think would beat him with more aggresion higher work rate and better technique even though his techniquie is not great

I think he was right to take it, as previous posters have said it's not every day you get offered a world title fight so you might as well take the offer when it comes, also there was no guarantee that he'd beat kiko

He should have fought martinez imo. A logical but not too huge of a step up, and a far more winnable fight for casey. Some people justify him fighting Rigo by saying that he made some good money and that this opportunity could only come around once. Well the truth is he didnt make a big amount fo money for the Rigo fight. i heard that rigo made only around 120,000 for it,a nd casey made around half that or even less. Willie could have made that much with a few good european title defenses and he would have been knocking on the door of a world title shot anyways. Was never a fan of the idea that casey would fight Rigo. his management should ahve been smarter than that.

Its better to take the guaranteed money and the shot at Rigo than less money in a hard fight that he would probably loose against Kiko. He isn't a young prospect he is nearly 30.

Thing is lads this ain't too difficult. He still has a very good chance of meeting Martinez again. If he'd lost to Martinez how close do you think he'd be to a world title shot?

No because kiko would beat him and then would never get a title shot
