In response to your reasons, I'll say this:

    1. Mundine was beaten by Wood but he has since avenged the loss. Even if he is a hack, he is a no.4 rated hack so it's not a case of cherry-picking if Geale chose him as an opponent.

    2. Mundine should have given Geale a rematch. In review though, and as strange as it sounds, he probably did Geale a favour. Geale forgot about the IBO and went on to chase after a real belt. The Mundine of today is much more beatable than he was when they fought - an immediate rematch probably would've been a UD for Geale, now he'd stop Mundine.

    3. Geale has said that he won't take the easy road, but in the lead-up to the Sylvester fight he did say that a rematch with Mundine was a possibility down the track.

Mundine is reaping what he sowed. That still doesn't mean Geale shouldn't use Mundine's name to have an easy defence, make far better $$$ in his next fight than he would against anyone else and increase his profile in OZ and overseas.

If it wasn't Mundine's name but somebody else's in the no.4 spot and Geale had the opportunity to make 3x the coin against him than anyone else in an easy first-up defence, everyone would be screaming at Geale to take the fight.

Perhaps to some, but the real enthusiasts know it is pretty much cherry picked, because Mandy is no where near 4th ranked at anything now.
Rankings are less important to me, a fighters recent performances are more so. And of course, behaviour.
A UD for Geale 3 months after the first fight would have paved his way much the same way as it has now. So whilst it appears he has been given a favour, things would have turned out similar anyway, IMO.
I have heard that too, he has also said he has little interest unless Mandy can prove he's worthy of it, which is now very unlikely.
Only in the short term. I confidently believe Geale can make as much money (and more) without Mandy, it will just take longer.
As a consequence his integrity and prestige is maintained.
    No doubt, me included.

I'm sick of the Mandy circus, I'm glad Wood has pretty much ended it, and I don't want someone like Geale to encourage keeping it alive.

I won't deny my reasons are based predominantly on principle.

Anyone wanna have a go at explaining how mundine is ibf #4 middle?

Ratings updated may 7. Pavlik dropped for inactivity, even though he fought the same weekend. Thats fine, pavlik is fighting at 168 now anyway.
David lemieux also dropped out of top 15 after losing to rubio. lemieux was previously undefeated.

Mundines form at 160 has been a loss and a win against unrated garth wood. If mundine was rated by the ibf at the time he first fought woods...why wasnt he dropped? And if he was dropped, how did a win in the wood rematch get him to #6 and with pavliks removal... elevated to #4 ???

A loss and a win over garth wood at 160 means ibf #4.

I know the short answer is mr.wheatley but ash and co might have some fun with it. :D

I didnt hear geale say he would never ever fight him, It was more like if this and if that .
After seeing the purse for the sylvester fight I think When a offer is on the table for anything close to the figures ash has mentioned he will take the fight.
He is ontop of the world right now but that can all change very quikly with a bad move .
Its great he wants to fight the best but its still a bussiness.
He should fight Mundine Asap before either he has a loss or Mundine gets KOD again.
He will be loved by the aussie public for schooling Mundine and his still the IBF champ so the people will follow and so will there cash:hey

Awesome if Geale can make some big bucks to set his family up, I'd say he has busted his arse to get to the position where he is today. But after his treatment from the dean fiasco and then the protest, make the circus wait :deal what other option do they have.

Wrong....I backed Geale to beat the champ Sylvester....I just want the title to stay here for as long as possible and for the Grange/ Geale to make loads of cash...if Grange make loads of cash Aussie boxing is the winner :deal

IMO Choc will get whooped again soon so the money that would have been made will be gone...thats all :D

The only way Mundine stops is if his body gives out.....his new matchmakers have him heading in the right direction = USA :good

Word on the street is they will fight regular WBA champ Trout next (I heard this from a pissed guy on the street - this is not inside info :D)
