This is a tough one because you can tell he had convinced himself he could win and like someone has said he trained harder than ever and was prepared. It was clear that his tactic would be to counter after a Haye right hand but it just never happened and in-fight default mentality took over and he went into his shell as usual but Haye is so much more powerful, fast and melicious than most heavyweights that it over whelmed Audley. I don't really know what the criteria is for witholding a purse or who makes the call for that matter. I mean did Spinks get his purse witheld after the Tyson fight. he went in **** scared with no belief and froze - arguably worse than what Audley did. I guess I'm just a big softie and actually feel sorry for Harrison. I know he made a fortune but he has to face the music and the whole boxing community who regard him as a complete laughing stock. I hope he hangs them up now - he'd be a good TV guy as he has a great TV manner even if he doesn't deliver between the ropes.

On a side note does anybody know exactly what Haye said to him after the fight as it looked to be a lot more than thanks and well done?

Nah no way should his purse be witheld. Sometimes you see fighters take a fight with the sole intention of going down as soon as a punch lands, getting counted out, and walking away with the money. That's not what Audley did.

He prepared as best he could, seems to have trained hard physically, and tried to psych himself up by talking about how he was going to knock Haye out, master vs student etc.

But the reality is, David Haye is a much better fighter, and Audley just can't compete with him now. He was offered a crack at a world title, and of course he said yes. And of course he tried to convince himself and anyone who'd listen that he could win. But when the time came, it seems he realised he was out of his depth and nerves got the better of him.

Basically, he can't compete at that level, and in the situation he completely unravelled mentally in front of the whole boxing world. That's no reason to punish the man, surely?

Anyway, I wish him happiness in the future...

Initially I was all for Audley losing 50% of his purse (maybe said purse could go to those boxers who have had their passion and lively hood ended in the ring: triers like of Jason Rushton etc), however like many posts he didn't take a dive and just simply bottled it. What Haye can do now though is offset his little win from the bookies and the millions he made from this farce, and sign whatever the Klits put in front of him. He has been more than compensated by this absolute farce of a defense.

I honestly don't think Audley had any intention of winning that fight and I don't think him and Haye ever fell out. This whole thing was set up. They arranged it a couple of years back with their bull**** ''sparring liberties''. If Haye really wanted to punish Harrison he wouldnt have gifted him the biggest payday of his career and a crack at the world title. Harrison agreed not to throw a punch and basically let Haye KO him. Audley most likely won a nice few bets on that fight too.

I couldn't believe how bad Audley was, even he surpassed his own level of shitness. I think they should take half his purse for the lack of effort. The promoters who put on this fight should be penalised for this rubbish and finally what can you can say about sky who are just a bunch of thieves anyway and they have the balls to serve this crap as PPV.

The way he talked up his chances.before the fight you would have thought he could have tried a little bit. This was a joke of a heavyweight title fight. Andx to think haye calls the klits out for taking easy fights against bums

Let him have his money, this is the fight he will be remembered for right? When people look back to that fight in say 20 years no one will care how much he got, they will only care that he was scared and landed one jab.

My mate bought the PPV, i told don't but he always buys the hyped fights, he admits this, but he also admits he has never heard of the K Bros! So it makes financial sense, legacy is different, legacy has nothing to do with money, no one will care about that but to have a undisputed king.

Did anyone notice when Smith said to Haye about the K brothers the crowd cheered, if they are so unknown then what's with that?

There is so many ways to look at it!

The fight shouldn't have been sanctioned in the first place. That is where the problem lies.

Look how he started in most of the prizefighter bouts? He just stood there and landed after 60 seconds or so..
I thought he would atleast start off how he did when he fought williams (part 2).

He is getting shitted on in every tabloid paper and websites, humiliated in every aspect. Atleast let him keep his money and bounce back to the states.

As disgraceful a fight as it was, Audley fought the way he's always fought, so I say no.

It's not like there was a sudden change in tactics, something out of the ordinary, a drop in form, Audley is just not very good as everyone knew. Audley has always been like this: hopeless as a pro and gunshy.

You can't remove a guys purse for being rubbish, you can only do it if you think foul play is involved.

Audley earned his money for what he did out the ring.

Audley was ****ing terrified in there. LOOK AT HIS FACE. He was not a man in control of his actions. David Haye on the other hand, who predicted the fight would play out exactly as it did, was in complete control of the action, even choosing the round it would end. I would be happy for Haye's purse to be held.
