Audley, like every boxer, could have been seriously injured in the ring. If he'd put in the performance of his life and lost after 12 savage rounds, would those who are moaning they were cheated out of their £15 have paid him a few quid extra? I doubt it.

If anyone should get their purses withheld it's the overweight Latvians who come over here, go down from the first decent punch and stay on one knee until making a miracle recovery once they hear 'ten'.

they should take his purse off him

You could pick a guy outta the train station randomly and he wouldve landed more punches

Come to think of it I saw pros v joes once and guys that have never fought had 1 minute to land on pro boxers and they all did it a few times

    Absolutely not.

His purse should only be witheld if there is compelling evidence that he has willfuly tried to loose the fight for financial advantage.

Let's not forget that Haye did almost nothing for most of that fight himself. He could have had Audley out of there in the 1st if he had wanted to, so how about docking some of his purse for not trying hard enough?

Audley also got by far his biggest ever purse. If he hadn't failed here, he would have failed making 100k against Dimitrenko. This was a nothing fight, a bit of meaningless fluff but then so have been all of the 'big 3' title defenses in the latter part of this year. Briggs, Harrison and Chisora. Ironically, because of the hype and money it was able to command, this fight actually made the most sense of the three pointless 'contests'. Furthermore, relatively speaking, both the Klitschko defenses are worse simply by virtue of their experience at this level.

I think both parties are probably to blame to some end for Haye - (A) Klitschko not being made yet, but there's no excuse next year. None whatsoever.

    No.

I don't know about Klitschko-Chisora because it hasn't happened. But Haye-Harrison was so much worse than Klitschko-Briggs.

Shannon Briggs is a brave man who came to fight. He may have lost the fight but he was not disgraced. Even though Briggs gave lots of trash talk Vitali remained respectful at all times. Briggs knew what he was getting himself in for but he was not scared and although he lost the fight nobody could say Briggs was disgraced.

Audley Harrison is a mentally fragile man who is scared of being punched. David Haye knew this. He also knew there are people who would pay to see Harrison beaten up. Haye signed to fight Harrison, despite the fact Harrison had never been in the ring with a top boxer like Haye and even though Haye himself predicted before the fight that, come the opening bell, Harrison would be "petrified." Audley Harrison, a mentally fragile man, was humiliated by David Haye for the entertainment of a baying mob.

Please do not compare what Vitali Klitschko did to Shannon Briggs to what David Haye did to Audley Harrison. Vitali Klitschko is a gentleman.

I'd like to know where this money goes?

Perhaps they should give customers a discount on the next PPV event?
