No, but... This is definitely no longer the Anthony Joshua who knocked out Alexander Povetkin, Wladimir Klitschko, Charles Martin and Dillian Whyte. AJ's lack of aggression is evident. AJ wasn't going for the knockout win at all. Too big a scar on AJ was first left by Andy Ruiz, and Usyk sealed what Andy Ruiz started. This was AJ's worst edition yet he won the fight; he was lucky that he was not a better opponent in the ring. I don't think we'll ever see the old AJ (knocked out by Alexander Povetkin, Wladimir Klitschko, Charles Martin and Dillian Whyte) again. So any subsequent opponent of Joshua, of higher quality than Franklin is a potential danger.
Yes, yes they are. Fury, Wilder, and Usyk HAVE ALL EXPLICITLY DISCUSSED RETIREMENT. They are all closer than Joshua, and you can throw Ruiz in there who is badly denuded. You are one in a million, guy.
Easily agree. AJ has some big fights he s/make. But will he? Not here. 1) Based on what Ruiz did in r7 in their first fight, you don't think Fury or Joyce can't stop a fading AJ in the late rounds? Both are equal or bigger in size to AJ w/ better engines. 2) Size matters. The larger HWs of the 2000s and especially now would demolish smaller HWs from 1970s & back. I'd favor them over nearly all from 80s & 90s with a 90s Lewis the main exception. But Lewis suffered two big KO losses so it's not like he couldn't be stopped by some of the recent or current HWs. So what's your best era or decade? Regardless this isn't a weak never mind very weak era. I hope you aren't one of those that can't accept the US (or a certain group) no longer dominates HW boxing. During past 2-3 decades, boxing has become more international & diverse than ever. The breaking up of the Soviet Union being a major reason for that. Just look how many top fighters have emerged from that huge nation.
Can Fury and Joyce score a stoppage , sure , but I don’t think Fury is going to go in there and trade. He will try and outbox Joshua and if the KO is there he will take it. Joyce is a very intriguing fight for me. He is exactly what Joshua wants in an opponent. Joyce is stationary and easy to hit. Can he eat Joshua’s power punches like the other heavyweights he’s faced. If he can then yes he will stop Joshua. If Joshua still has the power then he could be the guy that crack Joyce chin. I still stand by that this is a very weak heavy weight Division. Just look at the top 10. The past 5 years it’s been the same 7 guys fighting each other. Everyone takes a turn on Whyte and Chisora, with Parker as the fluffier. Waiting in the wing has been Ruiz. Until we get new blood in the belt talk and actually fighting for a belt , it’s a very weak.
If he fights Joyce I'd compare it to Khan vs Brook with Joshua playing Khan. He will duck Joyce anyway and Wilder and Ruiz. Hearn will serve him up Whyte next I assume and expect a 50-50 cut vs Fury.
It's not that he could get stopped...it's that he is DONE. This is what you fail to understand! He will NEVER again beat a top name, end of.
Ranking means NOTHING...fighters can degrade within one fight. Anyone with a real clue about boxing can see AJ is DONE. In other words, he will never beat another big name, he barely beat Franklin who has no chin, punching power or much of anything else. AJ is not top 5 in reality, he is on the downward trajectory and is barely top 10 and plummeting by the day.
So according to you everyone that can’t beat Usyk or Fury should just retire. What a stupid stance. I’ll have to see how Wilder and Ruiz plays out but outside of Usyk, Fury, and maybe Wilder he would have no problem beating anyone else in the heavyweight division. So if he is healthy and feels like it he should continue to fight if he wants. Plenty of great fights to be made. I would love to see how Herg and Joyce far against him. It’s either the passing of the torch or he is still one of the top player. So please spare me this he should retire bull****.
Shut up, idiot. Is it that hard to understand that he can wait them out? Of course it is. You are stupid.
