I think Kovalev looked very good against Ward and was leading handily going into the 8th. I see no reason for him to retire at all. He has at least another 3-4 years of good going left. He should cram his schedule, beat the sap out of guys and force Ward into a rematch as mandatory. He can totally beat Ward.

Kovalev should leave Main Event ASAP. Thats the first thing he should do. They dont pay him well and they dont know how to protect their interest, like the big / wealthy promoters do. And whats Egis job as a manager? I dont see him doing much either. Okay, in the beggining he was instrumental for his career, but now ? Just collecting checks I see

I never understood why Kovalev didnt decide to base himself in Canada. As a business decision, it would've been great for him for multiple obvious reasons.

If Andre moves up and vacates the belts, Haymon has already a 175 Super 6 tournament planned. And Kovalev along with a Top Rank fighter are in. This idea came to life after Ward was talking about retirement after the 1st fight.

 

Kovalev would have beaten SOB with a neutral boxing commission, neutral judges and referee.

Rematch in Russia with Russian boxing commission, Russian judges, and Russian referee, then let's see who will will. Kovalev would not have to cheat either..................

 

A guy who is mentally fragile like him is probably done. If he doesn't have the capacity/ability to reflect on his mistakes and do something about them then it's all downhill from here. He showed the world his weakness with Ward.

 

I don't think he will ever be the same after ward broke his spirit and took his soul, He said to ward " i am going to end your career i promise you" He said he wanted to have fun inflicting pain on him etc, The only career he ended was his own and main event's.
