I'm sure if Pacquiao fought Brandon Rios last night, everybody would be talking about how great he looked
If it was the case of retiring just after a bad performance then surely he should have done it after the first 2 Marquez bouts? Looking bad against a great fighter such as Marquez who is a complete style nightmare for him anyway doesn't instantly mean he should retire
Well he's won against someone he shouldn't have maybe twice and him losing to anyone in this stage of his career would not be a tainted win for anyone, I guess the theory now is that Pac is shot...no he just didn't fight a washed up ex star/champion who had no defense or boxing skills, every fighter Pac has beaten hasn't done anything since they fought Manny, they were already on their way out, Oscar, Hatton & Clottey haven't fought since...Manny is a true fraud...
Rios would suit Pacquiao though, so it wouldn't prove anything. When Jones fought Lacy he looked good but it doesn't change the fact he was finished. If he did fight Rios, he'd look good but you'd likely find some fault in his performance. Physically, Pacquiao isn't the same fighter he was a few years ago and the quality of his opposition doesn't change that.
Im trying to reserve judgement until i watch the fight, i expected Pacquiao to steamroll Marquez despite Manny's problem with him in the past and his slight decline in recent bouts. For me the result reeks of a guy who is indeed in his early thirties, who has had many hard bouts and maybe his heart and most certainly his head is not in the game anymore. Kudos to JMM for proving a hell of allot of people including myself wrong, however i still firmly believe that the Pacquiao of 09 would stop Marquez.
but that's one of the reason's Pac has looked so good over the past few years. Rios will come in with the same mentality as Hatton, Oscar, Cotto, Diaz and Margarito. It's common knowledge Pacquiao has trouble with moving targets
If the Mayweather fight cant be agreed for next year then he should fight Marquez a fourth time, then retire. He seems to have lost something, he doesn't look quite the same fighter he was when he beat De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto.
Every fight since Pacquiao fought Cotto, I've thought he's looked a tad slower of hand and foot than he did in 2009 and before. I thought he even looked sluggish and plodding at times against Margarito. Said it back then, and before I get inevitably attacked by some dumb ****, I'm not trying to take anything away from Marquez or Mayweather down the road if they do fight.
I'm trying to upload the fight on youtube now. Arum was such an ass. I am bound and determined to stage the fourth fight and it will break PPV records. Lopez asked Manny if he will fight PBF in May. Manny blew it off again by stated my promoter....
Pacquiao has always been flawed. He just looks good against certain styles. As much as I hate to say it, Mayweather will make him look like an amateur. This would have been the outcome at anytime in both of their careers.
