Lmao. Nobody in the real world really cares about 1 or 2 lbs of a a fight night weight.

Sources for thurman ? Pretty sure he weight 150-160 on fight night, he's huge for a WW ( and he fought at LMW ).

And as I said, currently everyone does it, if you don't, you'll be at a disavantage ( Pacquiao, Floyd, Sergio ... all smaller than most of their opponents ). Which is why they should put make same day weight in, everyone would be on an equal playing field & fighters won't be able to drain down to fight smaller opposition & get easy titles.

Go to basement gym boxing, they have all the fight night weights ever recorded from HBO or Showtime fights since 1990. Thurman has never been recorded weighing in higher than 156 on fight night for a fight contested at 147. Is it possible he has done so in a fight where he did not do the unofficial weigh in? Yes of course, but then it's also possible that Floyd has weighed in higher than 150 in fights he did not do the unofficial weigh in at WW. Guessing about a fighter's weight on fight night opens us up to a whole host of dangers.

Yes, I understand that everyone does it, but you can't slam some people and praise others when the numbers just don't tell the same story.

Its the same rule for everyone.

Its a risk cutting as well. Its not just a massive advantage to putting lots of weight back on

What this guy says. Weigh in day before but make sure they don't blow up massive over night. At the minute guys a bang on the weight for a few hours then 10lbs over come fight night.

No I think it's dangerous for fighters who have a hard cut to fight the same day. I like the IBF check weigh in, with the 10lbs increase limit.

It would shake up the current divisions, but I'm all for it.

Certainly because a lot of Cruisers would have to move to the HW division, wich will make things very interesting.
But a lot of boxers troughout the division would have to move up. Things will be insane at first, with guys desperately trying to cling to their division and many changes in the divisional rankings

I don't know if exclusive same say weigh-in is the way to go but certainly there should be something done about the weight problem. Perhaps they can set a rule where a fighter cannot be more than 3% over the weight limit. Such as they can't be more than 151½ when they step foot in the ring for a 147 fight.

Some guys are far too big for their division. I believe Kell Brook is also one of them. Ward as well.

Ward weighed 176 lbs against Dawson, what are his other fight night weights.

I think what some sanctioning bodies are doing now with fighters not being allowed to be 10% over the limit at 30 days and 5% over at 7 days is a solid idea.

If a challenger or champion rehydrates into the next weight class on fight night, then the title should be off the table.

yes, because fights now aren't technically at the weight that was agreed upon. Maybe there should just be rehydration clauses.

Isn't anything above your division limit into the next weight class?

E.G If you fight at 140 lbs, 141-147 is into the next weight class going by that we would have no champs today.

Hell yeah. Fighters won't be cutting as much weight because they won't be afforded a day to rehydrate.
