As Haye is so fond of telling everyone that he will be hanging his gloves up in October this year and no meaningful fights available in that timespan should he just go now? I think definitely, why waste his and more importantly the fans' time with any more farcical match-ups. As cruiserweight, Haye was really exciting, taking on all comers & against the odds. Who can forget going into Mormeck's backyard and ripping the titles away from his grasp in Paris? As a heavyweight, a joke, how can you build a legacy with what, 6 fights? I'm no fan of Wlad or his brother but in this case, he's right, if he retires in October nobody will remember Haye as a heavyweight in a couple of years time but then again, does Haye really give a sh*t, he made his millions staging pantomine fights against the likes of Audley Harrison. What a waste........
agreed, he may aswell retire, i have no interest in watching haye beat the klitsckos leftovers, and adamek is no world beater. if haye wont fight the klitshkos this year then stop now i suppose, sad really but it just goes to show how much of a state our beloved sport is in.
Yeah he should, and the Klit's while they're at it. Only person worth fighting is Adamek outside of these three. Fight him, beat him, **** off. Have no interest in Haye vs *insert old crap fighter here* or Klit's vs *insert can here*. It's ruined the HW division for far to long, and none of them do anything to help that. Just gets me down when you see people like Froch fighting literally the top of the division every fight.
People are getting too emotional with Haye. What you're saying about his legacy is correct but if you don't like him or his fights then the best thing to do is to just not buy the fights, don't buy the bookazines, and just take everything he says with a pinch of salt. From Haye's point of view, he might still want to make a bit more cash before retiring. That's his choice but you also have a choice to buy his fights or not.
As things stand now, I'll be telling my grandkids how Haye lit up the CW division for a couple of years then proceeded to **** away any chance of a HW legacy. in fact, I probably won't even mention the HW years lol. That will change if he fights a Klitchsko, win or lose. As others have said, I'll excuse the Audley bout on the grounds of UK interest, but I'm not interested in watching him fight bums until he retires. The whole point of him moving up was supposedly to 'clean up' the division so what the **** was that all about if he never fights a Klit?
Your grandkids won't even ask after him. Compared to the likes of Bruno, Lewis, Froch, Hatton, Khan and Calzaghe he's a ****ing No Mark
Away to say...my son wont even here about him from me and I was in Germany when he won the title!!! I know its not ALL his fault but he epitomizes everything i hate in the game these days, money money money, posing bullshitter. Then there's his fans and other fans haggling about who should get more cash, why the **** do we even care!! There's wariors fighting for next to **** all
The difference between Khan and Haye, is that Khan faced his nemesis and his performance was above and beyond expectations. Time is still on Khan's side though if he does take on poorer level opposition here on out then he will get criticism.
I don't give a **** about unifying. It doesn't mean **** all, regardless of what you say as chief fan liaison officer of the IBF. Haye has basically been part time for the past three years - the prime of his career - taking easy fights against ready made opponents. Bruno fought Tyson x 2 and Lewis, plus a **** load of top 10 and fringe contenders...... that pisses all over shot Mormeck, Enzo and those heavies that I've just mentioned. Hate to break it to you, but your hero only beat two of the best four cruisers around at the time - Cunningham and Adamek were missing. As for his shocking ''career'' at HW.... the less said the better.
I think he says he is fighting in May/June vs Chagaev. I would expect one more fight before retiring. I can't see how he'd ever fit in both Klits now unless he takes the July date and then has his retirement party in October. Don't care about his fights coming up.
If he really intends to go in October anyway yes he may as well go now.I very much doubt he is going to go in October though.People forget we did have a fight with Wlad all ready to go which got ****ed up due to injury.I think we will see a fight with one of the brothers this year, the 2 sides managed to get it all sorted once and will again. It will be late in the year though, probably after October.
