141-147 is clearly a range and within that range, that is considered a WW fight even if they agree to a contracted weight. contracts are consensual in nature, meaning if pac, cotto and the WBO/WBC/IBF give consent thereto and consider it as a valid contract with the belt on the line, that should be valid considering no rules and regulations are being violated.

when pac came in overweight during a weigh-in, he was sanctioned and stripped of his belt because he violated the weight range.

we can all shout till our voices are hoarse and strained but remember, the fighters gave their consent thereto. there was no gun leveled to their head to force them to sign the contract.

you think that asking for concessions is a ***** move but asking for concessions is a way of life for all human beings. you ask for a discount when you buy a car or a house, you ask for a raise in your job when the economy is doing well.

all these concessions are in pursuance of your self-interests which is normal to all people, like you and me.

how then can this be a ***** move on pac if he asks cotto to fight at 145? fighters, put their lives on the line everytime they climb the ring. and you call this a ***** move? the mere thought that he had the balls to pursue negotations against cotto is courage personified.

how many fighters have called out top fighters 1 or 2 divisions north of your regular fighting weight. and you call this a ***** move?

Maybe we should look at it as, the fight's originally at 140, and not 1 pound higher, but Team MP agrees to be lenient and meet them in the middle, just to make the fight happen.

pac wants to fight for (and hopefully win) a welterweight title, while not allowing his opponent to actually weigh-in at the welterweight limit.

How can you not see that its ****ed up?

and i agree with you 100% on that. 145 max is NOT a welterweight title fight.

Do you know what is a contracted weight? Have you ever Buffer announcing the contracted weight of so much. This is the weight agreed upon. If 145 is the agreed weight for the title fight, it is the weight that you are supposed to come at weigh in. That is why there is negotiation before the fight. In a negotiation, they discuss among others weight, purse, gloves, ring area, etc.
and these are all incorporated in a contract for both parties to agree on and sign. Therefore the weight that is agreed on in the contract is the contracted weight.

    Exactly that ranges from 141-147.

This fight will range from 141-145.

Therefore it's not a true WW fight.

OK so if the fight is at 145 what weight division is it at then? Super middleweight?

    It's a WW fight.

you dont want to go there with me noob, this is what I do for a living. You can count on one hand the number of catchweight title fights in the last 10 years, so dont act like it happens every day. It shouldnt happen at all.

After 6 division titles and 4 lineal titles, Pac does not care about the 7th anymore, he cares more about his health. That's more important than all the titles in the world. That's how I interpret his actuations.

i am not too sure if these people understand the concept of contracts mi amigo.

contracts, you give your consent. you get you moneys worth. if pac and cotto agree to 145 and wbc/ibf/wbo agree to the terms and all agree that it will be a title fight, then it is a title fight.

i can't understand why there is so much hoopla and hatred when it comes to pac. at 145, cotto will come in at fight night probably around 158-160 lbs. outweighing pac around 10-12 pounds. how can that be ***** move as insisted by onepunch is beyond me.

fighting for a welterweight title with a weight limit lower than the division mandates is indeed a ***** move. If they did the fight at 145 as a non-title fight, I would have no problem with it whatsoever.

How about having the fight at at 147 but with a cap so Cotto can't bloat to 160?

Pac at 147 versus Cotto at 160 is bordering on a circus. If Pac beats him it truly is a beating of the highest degree - Pac at a disadvantage of weight, power etc and while also being 7 pounds above his best weight division.

I just think having the fight at 145 makes it a more interesting fight and not one where Pac is giving away ALL THE ADVANTAGES.

Surely the P4P Number 1 has earnt the right to have all the advantages to him?

lol. then explain why he would pay a sanction fee of 3% on $15 million or more if he truly "does not care about the 7th". Come on man. Get real.
