Do you understand what you're posting when you said "may weigh up to 147 pounds?" It means that title fights can be done at 147 or not below 141. It is not in the rules as you claimed earlier that it should be 147 or no title. You stated earlier that this is your personal preference. Since both parties would enter into a contract, a specific weight will be agreed upon which should be within the range of 141 to 147. The sanctioning bodies do not prohibit catchweight as a contracted weight. So if they agree to 143 or 145 as the contracted weight w/ the title on the line, it is a legit title fight because it is within the weight range promulgated by that body. Furthermore, the contracted weight is the weight that both fighters should come up during official weigh in. Unless this is revised w/ your lobbying, catchweight w/ title on line is perfectly legit.

I would be in support of a standardized ring size, say 20x20 inside the ropes. That certainly would eliminate punchers trying to get 18ft rings and runners lobbying for 22's or 24's..........

Oddly, its the networks who do most of the stipulating about ring size. Every ESPN, HBO, or Showtime tv contract I have read mandated a ring size of at least 20x20 inside. I guess this gives them a bit more room for their camera personnel and gear that shoot on the apron.......

And there also should be a regulation requiring at least 2 feet of apron outside the ropes. Look at the recent Billy Dib fight. The ring apron was only like 1 foot and the japanese guy's foot slipped off the apron and he fell and the ref scored it a knockdown. terrible.

If Pac wants Cotto to put his title on the line then tell him to stop asking for a catch weight. If two pounds won't hurt Cotto, then it shouldn't hurt Pac if he gained two pounds of muscle for a fight at 147.

Pac lost by ko before and after he won the flyweight title. Sassakul was a one hit wonder. He was never special. While Pac was getting knocked out twice, Floyd was honing his craft.

No, because Pac is asking Cotto to come in at a certain weight when all Cotto should have to do is make 147.

Kurd, One is saying that a limit should not be put on how much Cotto should way up to 147, and you are saying the 'if they agree' make the fight. You both are right.

What ever the weight is, people will think that Pac is trying to weaken Cotto, and I don't want anyone to take anything away from Pac because when Floyd knocks Pac out, there won't be any excuses lol.

To be honest, when Sugar beat Lalonde, Leonard won the 168 and 175 lb title, and nobody thought he deserved the 175 lb title. I can't think of any other unfair catch weights since then. Manny asking Cotto to come in at a certain weight, and to put his title on the line is a travesty, but if Cotto agrees, then so be it. Pac won't get full credit for the win, and Pac' fans will dance if Pac wins while true boing fans will think Cotto was weakened, and will lose respect for Manny. End of story.

DLH-Hops was bull**** too. Mandating a middleweight title fight at 158 was crap.
