He's black. He can say whatever he wants without any consequences. That said, no, what he said wasn't really that terrible. Would still be interested to see the reaction if Ricky Hatton, for example, had called Pacquiao a yellow chimp.
Boxers don't exactly have the cleanest images, so it matters less for them. Floyd is the King of a sport filled with grimey participants. No one cares that Louis beat up some women. No one cares that Robinson caused his wife's miscarriages. No one cares that Ali cheated on his wife. No one cares that emmanuel cheated on his wife. No one cares that Tyson cheated on his wife. This isn't no Tiger Woods who lost sponsors for cheating on his *****. This isn't golf.
It was such a big deal in the sixties/seventies that people look for anything and try to make it a big deal. I still feel something should happen. Could you imagine Shaq going on Ustream and talking about Yao Ming that way? Shaq would loose sponorships like crazy!
