HW fighting often fighting under the LHW limit
    Black Canadian
    Power at a low weight
    Fighting in the 1910s.

These are attributes of P4P great Sam Langford. But there was another such HW at the time. Silas Green. Green's record is 20-18-2 barely above .500 but a deeper look shows Green was much better than that record indicated and simply couldn't beat the elite of his day. Green started his career 7-0 and at the end of 1915 was 15-3-1. This included a win and loss against the green 6'6 Bill Tate. And a draw with an also green John Lester Johnson. While these would be the only fights with distinguished opponents Green wouldn't lose he would fight a lot of distinguished opponents.

By the turn of the new decade Green was 18-7. At this time he had only been knocked out 3 times by Jeanette twice and Jeff Clark. Green's full loss column read Jeanettex2 Jeff Clark, Bill Tate, Battling Levinsky, Zulu Kid and Cleve Hawkins(who Green beat in a rematch).

At this point Green fought Fulton, Langford, Levinsky and Norfolk back to back to back. In under 6 months. As one could imagine that was the end of Green's time at the higher levels of HW. By 1920 Green was probably somewhere in his 30s but he is obscure to the point one cannot find his age or reach. Green would only win 2 more fights both against opponents who never won a professional fight.

It's a stretch to even put Green in the top 10 black HW's of his era much less overall. But given his size and the difficulty of his era him just being there at all is impressive and helps contextualize just how impressive Langfords career was. If Green was a MW a little bigger or fought during Godfrey's time Green might have made some real noise.
