You can see Juan Manuel Marquez at 2:27 left in round 5 through the ring post :p Just thought I should share that.

Great post. It was for these reasons that I couldn't believe at the time and still can't believe that there are morons posting about how the fight was actually close, or that Cortez ruined it for Hatton. Some people lack any and all perceptive prowess when it comes to how a boxing match is actually going.

Hatton gained the advantage at no point in the fight. He was getting beat on the inside, on the outside, and anywhere in between. Cortez didn't do that.

By objectively you mean giving Hatton rounds he didnt deserve.By the way boxing is not about plodding forward like Hatton did but throwing and landing shots. That fight was not even competitive,Hatton's ass was spanked from round one till he was tucked into bed & his girlfriend threw up

You could give 2 to Floyd. Hatton definitely won rounds 3 and 5.

I'm not saying the fight was close, or the ref would have made any difference. Hatton could never beat Floyd. But it wasn't as one-sided as some of you make it out to be. Hatton at least pressed the action and made the first half competitive, which is more then many of Floyd's opponents have been able to do. Plus he was surprisingly popping Floyd with the jab consistently , and snuck in some decent shots in the early rounds.

No one is questioning that Hatton "pressed the action". You seem to think he deserves point for effort, or something of that nature. Yes, Hatton came forward. However, he got beaten to hell and back in that fight. It was a masterclass on how to deal with a pressure fighter.

Exactly most of these guys don't have a clue as to what they're actually watching.:-( And anyone saying Hatton won more than 1 round against PBF and was competetive is a perfect example of this. The ony thing that remotely troubled PBF in this fight was Hatton's ability to close the distance other than that he offered virtually nothing.:deal

...And we saw what happened once Floyd figured out and was able to measure Hatton's distance-closing. The term "check-hook" didn't exist in the vocabulary of most boxing fans until December 8, 2007.

I love how Mayweather fans use the whole 'if you can't see that you don't know **** about boxing' argument when discussing this fight.

I understand they love to quote their idol and his family members, but take the blinkers off. This fight was competitive early on, despite Cortez doing his level best to stop Hatton from establishing any sort of rhythm.

Just for the record, I think Mayweather would still have won the fight, but Cortez gave one of the worst refereeing performances I have ever seen that night.

Mayweather fans? 2 of the 3 judges had Hatton winning 1 round only. 1 round! Idiots in here are saying that he clearly won 3. If you think that Hatton "clearly" won three rounds, then you DON'T know **** about boxing.

It was a one-sided fight. Cortez, Bayless, Steele, etc, doesn't matter, fight goes the same way.

He clearly won rounds 3 and 5. HBO gave him at least 3 of the earlier rounds. It wasn't that one-sided until the second half. If Floyd was really schooling Hatton as badly as you Floyd fans claim, then it wouldn't have taken him 10 rounds to get him out of there.

You could possibly give rounds 2 and 5 to Hatton. But thats about it. Floyd beat Hatton up in rounds 8 and 9, then closed the show in round 10.

As Manny Steward said, once Hatton got tired, it was over.
