He could be. I try staying level-headed with Rocky. He certainly has a lot of the intangibles to get it done. He's going to have to take a lot to do it, though. I still think he has the worst shot of all the swarmers... stylistically speaking.

Got that right. He cared more about the hole in his golf swing than the size of his belly entering fights.

I think Marciano would stand a great chance of getting under the jab and landing something on the chin.

For all his strength, Wladimir Klitschko doesn't really like to use it, he has a habit of fighting on the backfoot (some would say "controlling distance", but I'd say great fighters would not let him control everything all of the time). Even against a relatively light-punching pudgy "cruiserweight" like Chambers, Wladimir would jump back and fight on the back foot any time Chambers showed a hint of aggression. Against a truly aggressive fighter coming at him intensely in a crouch, there's a huge chance such passive tactics would backfire. He only has to miss-judge or miss-time Rocky's charge once and that's it, Rocky's too low and too close to fend off - and Wlad get caught straight on the chin, or the ribs.

I'm not saying Wladimir couldn't beat Rocky with such tactics, but he'd have to be lucky or a damn sight more aggressive than usual or literally fight a 100% perfect fight (which no one ever does) to guarantee that he wont get KO'd.
Rocky was so determined, and far cleverer than given credit for, that I think he'd land punches on anyone he's put in with. And against someone with a somewhat suspect chin, I'd say that basic ability to land sometime could equate to scoring a KO.

Purrity and Brewster are no measuring stick for what is needed to stop Wlad on top of his game. Chris Byrd would have beaten the version of Wlad that showed up against Brewster, something was off with his metabolism that night. No, I am not saying he was poisened, athletes sometimes have a metabolic imbalance and bonk. Wlad was 21 and green as hell when he overpaced against Purrity, any tough fighter with a good chin who would still stand after 10 rounds would have beaten Wlad that night.

Sanders had the height, southpaw stance, surprise and speed to beat Wlad. Of course many willbring up Tyson because of his speed and power, but at 5'11, he would need to bridge much more distance than Sanders at 6'4 and southpaw. On his off nights, many smaller fighters could have beaten Wlad, but the current version would be a very difficult assignement for anyone under 6'4.

Shortest - Tyson and maybe Tua

Lightest - Louis although I'm not sure I'd make him favourite - Marciano has the power but I don't see him landing that Right hand, no way

Why? Marciano would be on top of Wladimir all night. Wlad can't fight on the inside, so I see marciano punishing Wlad's body and coming up with uppercuts

Marciano would pay too high a price trying to get in. Wlad has one of the greatest heavyweight jabs ever, and probably the hardest. He is also much larger and stronger than Marciano and wouldn't have much problem tying him up on the few occasions he got inside. Wlad can clinch like nobody's business and there's a reason why... he's strong as hell.

For his own sake, Marciano best hope the ref or his corner shows a sense of compassion in this one.
