ROy Jones was a gifted fighter not a smart fighter...

    FLOYD is much smarter.

Mayweather's resume slaps jones' resume around also. Who do Jones got besides a primed toney and a green hopkins? John Ruiz? Griffin?

Roy was a much better fighter, with the better resume. Floyd was even better at picking out his overmatched opponents and avoiding the real challenges though, so I'd say he was the smarter businessman of the two.

    Damn.

Did some Floyd fan say he would dominate Pernell today or something?

On a side note I just picked up a Pea signed McGirt I official promo.

I think Floyd is smarter because he knows who to fight and when. Roy had such fast hands that no one could touch him. Floyd was not touched by his opponents partly because of his hand speed and also from his skills and not wanting to get hit. But I would say Roy has better handspeed, which means he won from being fast and not smart. Roy fought the better guys. Roy fought Hopkins,Toney and Hill. Floyd knew not to get hit, but Roy could not be hit. Although Roy never fought a guy with a jab who could have neutralized his speed. What I mean a jab I mean a Thomas Hearns or Larry Holmes jab.

I made a thread stating Hopkins could be the most masterful boxer, ring smarts, meant the same kinda thing. Fighters that relied more on whats up here than their physical attributes. James Toney was another one that came up well here.

LMAO! Tarver who at the time? Johnson who at the time? Green Hopkins, Primed Toney, Out of retirement Trinidad, Bum Ruiz, Bum Woods, Griffin who? Primed Eric Harding, Bum Woods. Now look at how many he have beaten when the competition got tough?

Floyd's name opponents. got a Primed Corrales, Primed Castillo, Primed Jesus Chavez, Genardo Herndaz, Primed Angel Manfreddy, Primed Carlos Hendraz, Primed Judah, Primed Hatton, Gatti, And Oscar de la Hoya. Out of prime Shamba Mitchell.

Who got tougher opposition???? Is not even close.

This is coming from an anti-BPF person and I think Mayweather has RJJ and Hopkins beat.

Hopkins can only stand next to floyd with his dirty tactics. Pure boxing skills is floyd hands down. At most Floyd does is he pushes you off with his forearm, and hell he doesn't even do that much. Hopkins' main defense is side step, secondary grab, third duck and roll. Floyd's main defense is foot work in every direction, secondary shoulder roll/conventional defense, 3rd duck, roll, lean back, 4th grab. Hopkins hardly even lean back and counter or dashes in and out nor laid on the ropes like Guzman. Floyd is head and shoulder above Hopkins in offense and defense.

PBF, RJJ is very smart himself though BUT he lets his massive ego get in the way of common sense, PBF while cocky is still very rational.

STFU Roy was great in his day, when he beat Toney, Hill, Hopkins , Griffen etc. Roy's porblem is he stuck around too long.

oh i forgot hills. I'm just stating the facts. Roy did accomplish a lot but most of his opponent were just solid not excellent. And he got owned by nobodies at the time. Tarver and Johnson were really never that good. So how good is Jones? We may never know bc he wasted his better half of his career handpicking taxi drivers/fighters. i don't even want to get started on Joe Calzaghe.

With Mayweather retired, nobody has beaten more FUTURE titlists than Roy Jones Jr.

So they were good enough to get their hands on world titles still, after Roy, but have no talent?
