He was exciting. He had the big bomb and really gave Holyfield a scare. Gave Moorer a couple scares too. Just couldn't pull off the big ones. They said Joe Frazier was his trainer in the beginning and quit working with him because of his lack of dedication. Maybe could have accomplished more had he been more disciplined.

Doesn’t deserve the lifestyle pass vastly overrated Monzon obliterated himself in the taverns and was a known user of drugs and slept about 4 hours a night and he still sacked up and came to the table and became an ATG

Not sure any decent classic fan on here, will ever forget Smokin Bert!!
He featured in so many memorabilia fights back in the 90 s, I used to look forward to see him fight.
Yes he had bad days but I think he made up for those.

I think that short inside right hand was his most powerful punch.

Involved in some really good and exciting fights. Thought Frazier stopped working with him eventually because of the drugs .Remember though that Cooper at some point said Frazier did not handle his career properly and had pushed him to be at heavyweight rather than cruiser, complained of politics in training, etc which Frazier disputed.

Can't help but wonder how much he could have done if drugs and alcohol had not been factors.
