i have great respect for fraizer, but if he fought in todays era he would probably lose to wlad, i cant see him getting out of the clinches, also the jab hurting him, i can see him going down multiple of times from the right hand, further big george doesnt seem so big when compared to todays heavys and we saw how he overwhelmed fraizer.

But fraizer was a decent heavyweight in his time thats all can be said

I loved Joe Frazier, his tenacity and fighting spirit. There was a similar nostalgia thread recently about that eras Earnie Shavers.

However I was going to respond - This thread :nut:-(

As has been pointed out Joe was nearly stopped by clumsy 210# Bonavena. Was massacred by Foreman, and lost 2 of 3 to light hitting (easily by today's standards) Ali. Most of his wins were vs CWs and barely 200# HWs.
Outside of the lone win vs Ali, which is his main claim to fame, his other name wins were vs Quarry, J Ellis, Chuvalo, and oh LtHW Bob Foster.

None of those opponents would even be a factor in the current/recent HW scene. The likes of Chisora, Haye, Povetkin, and many other modern HWs would stop Joe Frazier. Indeed more HWs than the K bros or LL would be ridiculed if they were matched by Joe transported in a time machine from the 60s/70s to the current era.

I know why some fans pine for the era of Joe Frazier, Ali, etc. But that era is GONE, LONG GONE :deal

You need to pull Chirosa's dick out of your mouth. Comparing the two is insane.

Frazier would get the living **** knocked out of him by any modern day super heavyweight. Bowe, Lewis, the K brothers would all butcher Frazier in painful mismatches.

Wlad has no uppercut required to deal with Frazier's style.

Wlad was told it was in his best interest not to go ahead with the Chisora fight. A Joe Frazier tribute act.

Frazier's chin wouldn't hold up to Tysons. Frazier would go down on the first combination Tyson lands, and Tyson would easily land.

Either man loses to the big SHW's: Lewis/Bowe/K Brothers are all great tall boxers and a great tall boxer wins against a good small boxer. That's just how boxing goes.

And what Tyson's chin holds up against Fraizer's bombs ? The edge in speed goes to Mike but if it came down to attrition I'd go with Smokin Joe all day !

I think it's funny how today's big heavyweights would be too much for Joe Frazier.
Derek Chisora has 3 notable fights against tall heavyweights, Helenius, Fury and V.Klitschko. Chisora wasn't hurt in any of these fights, but somehow got KOd and dominated by a smaller heavyweight, who's just a 'cruiserweight' in many eyes.
