Almost all boxing organizations are becoming useless. In fact, they are only good for forcing their champions to fight mandatory challengers. But, if they stop doing that, they just should be ignored and forgotten.
We need some extremely rich MOFO to come along and create a new series which involves “One champion per weight”. To run this in a play off style format with the top 8 in the division. On a yearly basis there will be one champion crowned per division. If you can’t fight 3 times per year, then sorry you ain’t eligible and I want your blood passport results analysed. If a series like that ran for 5 years plus all the belts would lose all power and meaning.
The more "champion" category, the more business/money. Next categories - "ULTRA Champion" , "MEGA Champion" , "GIGA Champion"
What would happen if the WBC promoted someone to franchise, but they said no, ala Cotto? Assassination?
Who is or has Lomachenko avoiding or trying to avoid? He’s tried to fight the best since his second pro fight.
Looks like Bob really doesn't want Loma going near Hearn's man Haney. So now that makes Canelo & Loma as "Franchise Champions" wont be too much longer before Wilder is named the 3rd. ****ing ridiculous.
Not surprised by this. WBC started this crap with Canelo ducking Charlo, and they made Canelo diamond champ. Now Loma ducks Haney, and Loma becomes Franchise champion. He's suppose to be p4p champ and ducking Haney?
So what do the anti-lineal brigade have to say about this then? This is exactly why either the Ring belt or lineal status are all that matters
IMO it's the best fight that can made at 135. I thought the point of this franchise tag was so their star champions don't have to worry about mando's so they can take the big money making mega fights? So this new label puts a roadblock up to this fight being made because the best fight to be made at 135 just happens to be with Loma's mando?
I’m a huge Loma fan and I wanted to see him become undisputed. This pretty much stops him doing it if he’s not actually the WBC champ
**** ESPN's whoring of the word "lineal" as it pertains to Tyson Fury, but I agreed with this statement that the Ring Mag belt was the only title I ever really thought mattered until Golden Boy removed some of the luster by buying the magazine. Makes it hard to crown a champion from a impartial place if Golden Boy fighters are involved. A promoter should have never been allowed to purchase the publication.
Doesn’t really matter how much ESPN use it, it’s still more important than having a bauble from an organisation. There’s rarely a golden boy fighter fighting for it, they haven’t got anyone good enough. Only really Canelo and he won it against Cotto so I can’t really moan at that
