This fight said nothing about whether Cotto should get into the HOF. But, as usual, people will look back on it and talk about how Cotto came up to take the MW title. This fight was a no contest, in my book.

We can also mention the luster he brings by being a long-time fan favorite who has fought in the Garden so many times and has such a big fan base. That is, I believe, an added element the HOF likes to see.

Nice response. Personally I don't think that if the Mackins or Barkers of the division had fought Sergio last night that they would have beat him. Too many people are writing off this win because they are trying to justify their terrible predictions. Cotto is arguably the most skilled boxer Sergio has faced, and he had the power, the plan and the confidence to beat him.

Definitely. Even without this fight he should have been.

HE definitely is a first ballot HOF'er. I thought he was before the fight so I guess this win is the icing on the cake.

It really helped his overall legacy being able to capture a title in his 4th weight class. Congrats to him, great win.

Yea. He was borderline, this pushed him over. He's arguably the greatest Puerto Rican fighter ever.
