The division has been garbage and still is.

Isn't it people like you who have been saying that this era isn't that bad

I think it certainly got a lot more interesting.

Boxing, not just the heavyweight division, is in a very deep slump that I have never seen in my 45 years and I haven't seen a heavyweight with Wilder's potential since the Kbros.

I'm hopeful that Wilder will revive interest in a lackluster division. It seems that it was a long time ago when the Heavyweight title was seen as the greatest prize in sports.

Hes not the champion though, just a contender who holds a meaningless paper title. And in all reality he really doesnt have that much experience, hes just been able to show he can compete because the division is weak.

Last match proved Wilder can only be `exciting` when hes fighting bums from the alley

he fought like an overly cautious wuss against a plodding, gassed, inactive punching bag because he was too afraid of getting his glass jaw shattered with a counter punch

Lol, in spite of hurting his hand he kept throwing punches and boxed intelligently in his first real fight stepping up. He also didnt look to clinch every chance he could. If Wilder cwn stay competitive against other top fighters he will help nreath life into an incredibly boring and weak division. He is certainly more fun to watch than Wlad, Pulev, Fury and Jennings. But lets assume he fought that way because your assumption is right. Is that why Wlad fights that way to?

Wilder and Fury are both bums until they fight each other. Neither have fought anyone of note. It's still pretty much WK and everyone else.

Wilder is exciting and I will continue to watch him, but the HW landscape is no different than it was before he arrived. Until Wilder takes on some other top 10 heavies he is just a paper champ. I don't blame him though, everyone in the top 10 have been avoiding each other waiting for a WK pay day which has thrown the whole division into whack. I look forward to DW vs WK show down. I also want to see Wilder fight Fury along the way.

Exactly. Wilder fought a safety-first fight against his first live body in a six year career because he knew if he really opened up, his fragile mandible would have been SHATTERED. And this against a fighter who was ill and dehydrated!!!! :patsch

Once Wilder is forced to face a top level HW who isn't sick, he will be utterly destroyed. He has a glass jaw just waiting to be shattered.

Why do people keep assigning this word "charismatic" to the likes of Wilder and Broner? Bill Clinton is charismatic, these guys are unbearable

    :yep
Wilder is far from charismatic and Broner is just plain obnoxious.

But I do think this actually might play out well for Wladschko's rating in the long run if Wilder has the cojones to fight him at least.
"Wow, he beat one of the next golden generation guys into a bloody pulp, so he must be very good afterall" :!:

Things got more interesting before Wilder won the title. Basically when Vitali retired it changed the landscape of the division, suddenly a title was free from the Klitschko's and everyone who was previously being protected or brought along slowly was trying to position themselves for a chance at the WBC title.

Is the division stronger? No of course not, we still have pretty much the same fighters milling around under the big shadow of Wlad. But what we are seeing are better match ups as people vie for position to get a shot at the now much more attainable WBC title and better match ups will see more interest in the division. One of the problems the division had wasn't just Wlad and Vitali's dominance but the fact that so many contenders were playing it safe hoping the Klits would get old, retire or have an off night and see a different champion that they could face that wasn't so formidable.

No just cause an American fighter won doesn't mean it's back.

    Infact it's even worst.
