This is not a good example. Hopkins was getting a fortune thrown at him (he apparently earned $10m). The actual weight for the fight was 158lbs. Hopkins weighed 157 for the Mercado fight where he won the title and the Trinidad fight, as examples. 158 was obviously doable without weakening himself, especially for that sort of money. Offer GGG $10m for the fight and my guess is Santos Barragan will get his catchweight.
Hence why he is not getting his catchweight.
hence why lil is getting to defend his wbc title for 2 mil on BAD against heiland
It was tainted to begin with. Some things are just out of GGG's control but his mission has always been to unify the middleweight division and he's well on his way. If he can convince Jacobs to fight Golovkin, the sooner Golovkin will be looking to move up to face Ward and possibly Kovalev. The Nelo fight is a couple of years out in my opinion. GGG is most likely not going to agree to move down to fight Nelo. ....he will wait until it's impossible for Alvarez to make 154 and see him at 160 or 168. Nelo is not a jr middleweight. He can make the weight, but it's getting harder to do so. Eventually he won't be able to cut the weight and he will move up to his natural weight class
lil g aint lookin to move up to 175 for ward/kova...trust that when lil g ducked ward his fanboys said ward was too big and lil was too small...and that was for 168...what makes u think hed go to 175 for the winner of that clash? guy only tries to cherrypick 168lbers
What is your point exactly? Yet again you seem to be going off on a random tangent which has no relevance to the matte actually being discussed.
Not this nonsense again. Get it through your head. Golovkin has never fought above 160 which is his natural weight. Ward was a natural 168lb fighter. Golovkin was willing to compromise on the weight. Golovkin was willing to give 50/50 and to have the fight in the states rather than a neutral location such as Monaco where he has fought a couple of times. Golovkin was willing to make concessions on most points and only asked for one. The fight did not take place because Ward wanted US venue, Golovkin to step up to his weight without compromise and a 50/50 split against a more marketable fighter. A quick look at their histories tells us who is in the habit of making concessions. GGG has fought in 7 different countries, Ward has barely even left California let alone the states. Ward was the only fighter to get every super 6 bout on home soil and drained Chad Dawson the light heavy champ down to 168. He wanted GGG to come to his weight and face him with no concessions yet he himself requires 2 or maybe 3 tune ups before fighting for the light heavy title including dragging Paul Smith, a mediocre super middleweight, up to 172 catchweight. The one constant here is Andre Ward getting the dice loaded in his favour every single time out. I appreciate that leads some of his less intelligent fans to believe he has some kind of divine right to this favouritism but he doesn't. If anybody can be accused of ducking the negotiations for that fight it is the guy who wanted every concession in his favour, not the guy who was willing to make most of them and only asked for an even break on the weight.

The truth is ggg loves fighting bums. The truth is that if ggg really wanted to be great, he would have fought canelo for free. You know why? because canelo has fought the greatests, and ggg has fought.... ¿lemieux? the one in here that should be begging for an opportunity to show how great he is is golovkin, because oposite to ward and canelo, he has proved.... nothing. And instead of looking for an oportunity to show his greatness, he demands 50/50. Lol. 50/50 why? for beating ishida? for beating monroe "18% kos man" jr? for beating "i've never fought a 12 rounds fight" wade?. Sure man, take your belt, and good luck defending it against the next tomato can. 3 belts, 1 champion, in 35 years. What a joke. And you say that this forum's quality is bad.... what's ggg's career then? I'll tell you, a joke, that's what it is.
