Morales won that fight in my book, Diaz is nothing to look out of in my opinion. If Morales was in his prime the likes of Diaz would've been knocked out in round 2 or 3. However, it was also a close fight that could've gone either way, Morales got too tired late in the fight and was basically hanging on while trying to do something. It's not like Diaz wasn't tired, he was but whenever a tried Morales would throw, he makes Diaz looks like a fool.
exactly... i would of loved for erik to get that W...not only cause he deserved it, but imagine a fight between him and casa....i think erik would've looked alot better against casa cause he wouldn't have to be pushing off this big'ol beast off of him how he was vs diaz.....thats probably what tired him out too....
The judging was very poor as soon as i heard the scores i was just waiting to hear: AND NEW WBC Lightweight Champion Erik 'El Terrible' Morales. As i did'nt believe anyone could have 115-112 Diaz - No Way. Morales goes out as champ in my eyes.
To be honest Freddy I'm sure you know that Erik Morales is an all-time favorite to me, probably #2nd favorite fighter EVER right after Tyson and I have seen ALL of his fights and have them ALL with me as well, he's an ATG and a legend in my book and I don't give a **** what others say. Morales is just shot man, I hated to watch that fight as much as I hated waiting for it but I still had to stay up all day and watch because I admire him and will always do, outside or inside the ring. But Morales was just gone, I would've loved to see him win and make history to get the credit he deserves which I believe is all gone to Barrera without any fairness whatsoever to Erik. That's all I wanted to see, just win and retire a champion, continue fighting was going to be stupid in my opinion man. Morales was out of it, I knew he'll have stamina issues right after round 2 and was praying for an early knockout just to avoid watching a late round TKO in favor of a limited fighter in Diaz. I'm glad he came out of the fight and I do believe he won but if he was given the fight I wouldn't have asked to see him fight again even after getting the win both me and you believe he deserves. I hate to see Morales struggle against guys BOTH me and you know he'll eat up for breakfast at this stage.
homie, diaz getting booed in his hometown says it all...morales went out like a true champ and didnt even complain once...his dad almost killed the ref though :rofl
I don't blame his dad one bit man, Diaz was using elbows, low blows, headbutts ALL the time and the referee was a complete fool. Whenever Morales would school Diaz and make him look like the fool he already is he'll resort to dirty tactics, the referee was garbage that night.
the ppv ****ed up their names...there real names were DAVID DIAZ SR ARMANDO DIAZ AND SERGIO DIAZ... ALL RELATED TO DAVID
when i seen morales face between rounds it reminded me a lot like barrera! both look like they dont want to be fighting anymore. morales shuld ave won tho! he deserved it!
Diaz' reaction after the announcement should say it all. He and his team were suprised themselves. :huh Nothing more to say. :-(
In my understanding, the rulebook states 1 point is deducted from a fighter who is knocked down. The knockdown, of course being a part of the round, is also factored into what the base score of that round is (10-10 or 10-9). So, the two judges probably felt the round was a 10-10 round, and the knockdown deducted one point from Diaz's score, resulting in the 10-9 round.
seriously though I was rooting for Morales and had him losing the fight. Rounds 8-12 were practically all Diaz. Morales' punches lost their snap from round 9 on. I'm not happy with the result, but the fact is that when i heard the final bell i knew i lost my $
Morales won that fight. Those judges just robbed a legend of not just a title, but final bragging rights over Barrera in that he would have WBC belts in FOUR weight classes.
I gave the 10th to Morales but it was close but so was 9th which I gave to Diaz. But how did you score the first 6 rounds? I was trying to be generous to Diaz and I had the fight 7-5 Morales. If I give all the close rounds to Diaz I would have it a draw.
