yeah but guys like roy, nard, and shane were all very good black fighters with ppv experience....they didnt sell like floyd....floyd sells like no other and he doesnt have a built in fanbase like oscar....

floyd could care less what the average person thinks about him...if they buy into his persona...at the end of the day his family loves him and he takes care of alot of people financially

guys like lebron, jordan and tiger all have a league/brand/tour behind them to craft an image.....floyd has himself....and dont kid yourself about mr pacquiao...if there no floyd mr pacquiao wouldnt be as big as he is

if floyd had stayed with arum or stayed that course...the "all american kid with out of this world skills" thing...he wouldnt have a fraction of what he has now....

what truly still amazes me is how many cant seperate the persona from the person....floyd isnt an angel but hes far from a horrible guy...and so many want to see him fail personally

if you dont like floyd cause you dont like his style in the ring/...i can understand...so dont watch and dont talk about him

you dont like floyd cause you think he "cherrypicks"...ok...youll make your argument like you are entitled to....if were being reasonable we can discuss that mr pacquiaos career since arum is as carefully guided as anyones......so dont watch floyd and move on.....but its funny how many people literally cant stand floyd because of how he acts and talks on tv show designed to sell his fight and line his pockets

What about Mosley? He was booed in his hometown when he fought Margo who isn't American. That's the type of **** I'm talking about. Most Black fighters with the exception of Crawford who's from Nebraska, and probably because they have nothing else to cheer for, draws well locally don't have the support from American fans. Most wish they would lose any time they face a non American. PBF recognized this and started trash talking trying to sell himself as the bad guy, the move had paid off since he's the face of the sport now.

When it comes to boxing, I do agree with like what I stated in my post. It is unfortunate but it's true.

I don't think "being black" has anything to do with it. It's completely a non-factor.

Floyd never had that all out entertaining style, even at 130, and not winning the Gold medal hurt his initial exposure in the media.

You're projecting thoughts onto millions of sport fans. There have been athletes from all kinds of backgrounds that have been very popular in the United States.

That was not the point I was trying to make. I am a big fan of Floyd. Pimp made it seem like the US does not support black athletes and I was pointing out that black athletes rules the sport scene and that everyone loves guys like Jordan, Tiger, Lebron etc. because they don't act like low class citizen's (this applies to all races).

What about Mosley then? He fought in exciting style and was an humble guy who didn't trash talk.

There could be a multitude of reasons. Chalking it up to "he's black" is just putting thoughts into the minds of other people. It's not realistic and a very narrow minded argument.

The vast majority of people in the United States are not racist, and could give a rats ass what color you are. That's the God's honest truth. Your assertion is that somehow "being black" will cause people to hate you. I completely disagree and reject that statement.

Not saying racism doesn't exist, but "most people" are not racist. You'll never stamp out all ignorance unfortunately.

The vast majority of Americans don't watch boxing. I'm taking about American fight fans here. I'm just trying to figure this out. You have a guy who fights in a exciting style takes on all comers and is humble and likable. I think you're a great poster and know boxing I'm just trying to understand.

Sometimes, there is no understanding it. People can have a multitude of reasons for their dislike of another person, or of a sports figure. It can literally be "anything." People are fickle, especially when it comes to being a "fan." That's just reality. I would argue racism is probably one of the last things on the minds of a sports fan. Sports are just so diverse of a competition, that "old world racism" thinking really doesn't work in an athletic environment.

Your case about Mosley isn't a very good one, because Shane is largely loved by fight fans. However, he was associated with Balco, so there could be some animosity there by some.

Is Barry Bonds disliked because he's black? Great ball player, took PEDs sure... but still was a great ball player even before the scandal. Hall of Fame player, without a doubt. Bonds is disliked because he's an *******. That's really all there is to it.

You could easily say "They didn't want a black man as the all-time baseball king so they went after him. They had no problem with Mark McGwire." (Bonds career numbers are obscenely good) And some people would eat that up as Gospel when that isn't reality.
