"145 ain't drained" this, "catchweight is good" that... we heard all the reasons why Cotto should agree to a catchweight fight, and he did, but now it looks like his WW title will not be on the line, as Cotto doesn't want to risk it at 145 pounds, and you really can't blame him.

So what would be better for Pacquiao's legacy assuming he overcomes the great Miguel Cotto:

    - W over Cotto @ catchweight with a possible excuse of Miguel being weight-drained, another nontitle welterweight fight
    - W over Cotto @ 147 for Miguel's title, PacMan being the only 7 division world champion ever

if cotto is gonna lose, are u gonna make the catchweight as an excuse? if u ask me, i dont care if that belt is on the line or not as long as they fight. that is what we all want right?

Pacquiao deserves the title if he can beat Cotto, but Miguel deserves to be at full strength. At 147, everyone would be happy.

the title will be on the line. pac said he wanted 143 and what that did is allow him to negotiate more money off arum for the concession to 145. i suspect cotto is going a similar thing. but arum will want cotto to put it on the line and the wbo will also lobby for it anyway.

if i had to pick id go with title fight at 147 tho. its the 7 weight division thing that pac's legacy will thrive off amongst other things.

I don't really care about titles. As long as people put themselves in with the best, that's all that matters.

Seeing as though Pacman has already defied logic by fighting this high up in weight, asking him to go back up to 147 is too much.

I'm a big fan of both, and I believe the 145 catchweight is a fair agreement, and the weight drained excuse shouldn't taint the victory. If Pacquiao wins he deserves full credit for beating an elite level fighter in Cotto, and if Cotto wins, he's done well in defeating a man who's on fire at the moment.

Dude. Your choices are unfair. I don't care that Cotto is limited by two pounds. Pacquiao is still fighting a guy in his prime. Still the bigger guy. And he's still fighting a welterweight, when he said last year he wasn't going to again.

Pacquiao is now at a point where the belts are only secondary to his success. Just saying he's beaten some of these guys will be enough to strengthen his legacy.

Maybe a 145 win over Cotto is slightly less impressive than a 147 win. But either way it's still a win over a dangerous Cotto.

the biggest joke in the world is that cottos a champion for beating Jennings

Pac has show in the past that he dont need no BS title in fact a lot of his huge fights were not for a title

hold on as far as i know the title should be on the line as long as they weight between 141-147lb which is welterweight 145lb is in that limit so isn't the title on the line?

In my eyes, it makes no difference

Cotto is Cotto, title or no title. And 2 lbs is practically nothing especially with a guy who comes in 1 lb under the weight limit anyways.

A win over Cotto @145 is a great win , obviously @147 would of been better but still Cotto is a huge threat to Manny @145 i really cant see Pac winning this one !!!!!!!!!!!

    Cotto via stoppage

i agree i think cotto might win because i dont think pac can handle a beating from a welterweight
