taylor has skills but hes lackin on sum key things.

stamina the main one. he was gunna beat froch and then got ko'd . n when he fought Abe he shoulda won all he had to do was come up wit a gameplan like froch and dirrell. but off course really nowone had answer for how to beat abe at the time. but a boxing team at expierence of JT's should have came up wit a gameplan like froch an dirrell. an actually i think his approach was like frocn h dirrells but he just wasnt sharp enough and lost focused. its all mental wit jermaine. hes jst lackin sum key attributes. just a bunch of bad turn of events that could have been missed. but the worst outcome just kept happening

:rofl:rofl:rofl AGREED. it's something about fighting hopkins that does a fighter in. jones and johnson were the only fighters whose careers went uphill after fighting him.
but on a serious note, had taylor had better training he'd still be boxing. stewart's a good trainer, but some people just don't blend good at all. taylor used his strength and speed good, but he never learned how to use his size to his advantage. then HBO and boxing politics prematurely crowned him and so many fights against good competition with false credentials left him vulnerable. taylor's demise is not all his fault. there were multiple factors that ocntributed, but he had the heart of a true champion.

no, it really wasn't a good fight at all. everytime taylor went to the body, abraham complained about a low blow (even though his trunks come up to his chest) and so taylor got reluctant to throw body shots and was just jabbing the rest of the night at abraham's guard and standing right in front of him. he wouldn't even throw a right hand. the fight was decent at best, and that's if your an abraham fan

ATG? Don't think so on that one.

A lot of things "happened" to Taylor: Hopkins, Pavlik, Froch, Abraham being among the the biggest things that happened to him if you're questioning his status today.

However, I was watching some of his fights last weekend and he was never great...but he was good. He was never really consistent...not just from fight to fight...but from round to round. He could have some big rounds against Wright and then the next round he might get dominated.

He obviously had some talent: fast hands, strong, powerful, a good offensive fighter....but he had a lot of negatives that would have kept him from being a truly great fighter: stamina, not a good counter puncher, poor footwork, poor balance, leaky defense, and a poor finisher.

The book on Jermain Taylor is that he was a worthy champion, a gentleman for the sport, certainly a good fighter but not a great one. He gave as much as he could to the sport having fought several high quality opponents but I never want to see him fight again (not because I don't find him enjoyable, but he's taken a ton of abuse).

you know jemain did fall off'....BUT !!....in boxing usually you begin in the amatuers...work hard ...win fights....if your lucky you might be invited to participate in the olympics...and if all goes well you turn pro'...and keep fighting taking gradual steps to work your way up the ranks and maybe and hopefully get your dream match for a title!!...and if you put in the work you beat the the guy who hadnt lost in 12 years had a record number of defenses and keep your record UNDEAFETED while taking the belts Becoming the new world champion !!....Well then my friend you WON the game !!!.....Probally hard to stay hungry after that!! Jermain lived probally every amatuer boxers dream career....to bad after winning the belts he took a drastic downfall...i still like the guy i too wonder what happened to him?...is it panic attacks'...loss of confidence'.....loss of the will to win

Taylor just started fighting better opposition. I mean naturally you're going to look better against Raul Marquez, Alex Bunema, shot William Joppy, and Daniel Edouard than you are against Bernard Hopkins, Winky Wright, Cory Spinks, and Kelly Pavlik.

Taylor had a very good jab, decent power, pretty fast hands, but was just a fighter that wasn't able to put everything together. He seemed to expend a lot of nervous energy, which affected his stamina. He had poor footwork, as he would repeatedly go back in straight lines to the ropes. This killed him against Pavlik, who frequently did serious damage to guys who went to the ropes. He lacked a certain concentration, it appeared he'd just have mental lapses in the ring.
