Martinez shows he knows how to work that ring.

Chavez just couldn't hold him down...

Didn't get him on the ropes ever..

Chavez gassed with 1 minute left and a hurt Martinez lmao... Surely other great champs would have found a way to finish him off?

Jr just danced (almost literally) 12 rounds with the suppose to be 3rd or 4th P4P fighter in the world. He almost had him out in the 12th. You gotta admit, Jr is a legit threat and no joke...

He is a threat to average to good fighters, against a elite class like Sergio not so much a threat. Yes he caught Martinez, when Sergio was trying to close the show. If he maintains focus, and sticks to the gameplan that lead him to domination for the first 11 rounds the knockdown never happens.

Until Jr. improves his overall game, sadly I don't see a different outcome with any of the other class fighters from 160-175 GGG, Geale, Ward, Froch, Bute, Dawson or Hopkins. Jr. needs to improve his defense dramatically (which probably wont happen under Roach) and learn to use the jab, (for the love of god, if he would just use the jab) which would make a huge difference in not only his own offensive and defensive game, but drastically alter how his opponents approach their gameplan towards fighting him.

He used the jab more against Zbik and got his head repeatedly rocked by that particularly poor feather-fisted fighter.

What's this supposed to mean? Are you saying he shouldn't use the jab? Because if you are, you must realize how ridiculous a statement that is.

One fighter countering your jab, so your solution is to completely do away with it...:blood

Merely pointing out he used to use it more in the past and arguably looked worse than he has lately just because he has such poor handspeed.

Lucky, desperation punch by Jr. Because despite his age and size he was doing nothing to Sergio. Sergio was beating him with one hand. So its definitely not Jr being that good.

Two things we (fans) and the fighters both know after this fight. Martinez can outbox Chavez Jr. But Chavez Jr. can HURT AND POSSIBLY STOP MARTINEZ. Chavez will want a rematch, Sergio SHOULD NOT TAKE IT!!!!

trolling ?! . Martinez whooped 11 rounds a LHW fighter and in the last round he forced a K.O but he got caught ! Not to mention that fighting with a guy that weighs 185-190 pounds it must be very exhausting ! Think about it !:deal

Anyway Martinez recovered pretty well and finished the fight like a real warrior full of G'ness and sexy'ness !:yep:bbb

I hate Chavez but where does this 20lb nonsense come from? JCC fights around 180, Martinez 170. Where are these 20lbs?

At some point critical thinking takes over and one has to see that a 37 year old whos outweighed by 10-15lbs in the ring, and completely dominates 33 minutes out of 36 against his big, young, undefeated challenger, is a good performence.

That being said, JR has been a good fighter for plenty of fights now. People are just fickle. In fact, probably a year before Chavez fought lee, all you heard was that JR would never fight anyone good, and that hell he would never fight lee, and if he did he would lose. He beats the dog**** out of Lee and its oh Lee isnt any good lol.

Its the same thing all the time with some boxing fans. JR is a solid fighter, you combine that with his size, you make his opponent 15lbs smaller and 37 years old, and the fact that it wasnt more competetive then it was it was amazes me to be honest. No bull****. JR had a great minute and 40 seconds in a 36 minute fight. And thats the truth.... a minute and 40 seconds, out of 36.

Good performence by Sergio, awesome 12th round by Jr. Jr is a good fighter, and Martinez is levels above.
