Aj has the confidence to do it but does he have the tools? Povetkin is a bit undersized at 225 lbs and not a super hw. Heck let's see if deontay can swing for the fences and land a lucky punch on fury without tiring his legs out first lol. In the ring fury looks unbeatable like a man with the movement of a prime Ali. Also hi ring iq and he lives for this shhh kind of attitude. I see him as a new reign right now. Jmo.
I agree. Even now I think the Fury hype level is ridiculous. He's big, a bit awkward and appears to have fast hands (but only because the throws a lot of pitter patter combo shots rather then planting his feet for power). But he hasn't got legendary skills.
I think Fury is clearly the best heavyweight at the moment. Loads of great fighters in their prime would have had a chance of beating Fury but Fury would also beat some of the legends of the sport.
Anybody can be beat on the right night. HW boxing. One good shot can turn things around. All that being said, Fury is the best HW on the planet at this time. The guy who beats Fury will be Fury. When he is focused and dedicated there is greatness there. If he loses focus, gets complacent or gives in to his inner demons he is very beatable. I hope he holds it together. He has a shot at a truly great legacy if he doesn't implode.
Truly mind boggling that people are saying only 7 current or past heavies could beat Fury LOL he is not an ATG (yet) Dont get me wrong I think Fury is by far the most skilled and awkward HW in a while but he himself has not proven it at a high level for an extended period. At this point the hype around Fury is getting out of control. I personally believe AJ has the best chance to beat him, followed by Usyk. AJ is levels above Wilder and Fury would not fight him like he did Wilder, because AJ would counter him with short punches. Ive always thought AJ could handle Furys power as Fury is a light puncher (AJ punch resistance is questionable however) Fury could definetly outbox AJ though, like he did WK but I think Joshua is a naturally more aggressive fighter than WK ever was. This would cause problems. Usyk is the only HW with comparable (if not better) boxing skills and the only other fighter Fury fought with good footwork and boxing skills was Cunningham who gave Fury fits until he *illegally* knocked him out. It could be that Fury, beats AJ and Usyk but cant see either fight being a shoe in for him.
At HW, they all can punch and anyone can be beaten on any given night for whatever reason e.g. Lennox v Rahman, AJ v Ruiz, Tyson v Douglas. Fury for me is the standout #1 and I'd back him to beat every HW out there right now but clearly there is a danger with Wilder (even though he got dismantled in the rematch, he has god given ridiculous power that could take any man out) and AJ who despite not being as fluid a boxer as Fury can box whilst having a great mix of speed and power. Whyte - Needs to re-write the wrong with Povetkin but is always dangerous with his body work and the left hook he possesses but I'd fancy Fury to be too smart and take those shots away from him. Dubois - Fantastic prospect but far too early. We'll gain a lot of what he's currently about when he's in with Joe Joyce Joyce - Despite being supremely tough and a fantastic engine, he's too slow and limited for Fury. Usyk - His way to win would be to outbox Fury which I just do not see him doing... As good as Usyk is... Fury too long, quick on his feet and awkward. Hunter - Really rate him but again think he's too small for Fury. Gives anyone a hard night though. Parker - Same as above. Ruiz - If he got himself fit and was motivated, given his hand speed for some reason I do think he'd have success in that fight. Don't see him winning and wouldn't bet on it, just think that he would give Fury problems. If he were to come in like he did the AJ rematch then he hits air and gets his head boxed off. Povetkin - His power and the boxing brain is clearly still there as evidenced in the recent fight with Whyte but his legs don't look the same, looks like they've slowed right down.
