It would be fitting imo. Golota has fought just about every top fighter from the mid 90s on, except for Evander.
Poor Sanders...AG ****ed up his left eye for life. Detached retina, plus one of the nastiness cuts I've ever seen!:-( Golota could have really been something for boxing history to remember. Too bad its the low blows ppl remember.
Golota was in peak physical shape for this fight. His physique is absolutely top notch for a fighter, exactly where you want to be without overkill ala Briggs. Above all that, he was also as loose as a goose before the fight. You can even see him joking with Ronnie Shields before the fight. Being loose and calm before a fight is an absolute rarity for Golota.I believe his good mental state there is why he was able to withstand the considerable amount of punches that Sanders threw back and go toe to toe with him without being undisciplined. Boy, I´d like to see an insider´s interview with Duva, Bloodworth and Shields to try to see what being with Golota in the locker room before the big fights was like and their opinions on why, ultimately, Golota was a failure.
Get him in there with Brian Neilson, and perhaps Sherman Williams then make the Golota Holyfield fight that should have been made. I loved Golota back in the day he was a beast but he let me down big time when he fought Lennox
Lidocaine + Golota´s panic attacks + Lennox´s skills and ring intelligence = blowout. When you hear Lewis talk about Golota, you get the distinct impression that he had Golota all figured out as a fighter, before the fight even began. In fact, Lennox said he observed Golota´s strengths and weaknesses closely during the Seoul Olympics (Lennox got the gold while Golota grabbed the bronze). He understood you have to jump on Golota early to have success. Mind you, we don´t know whether that´s Lennox talking or whether he got this from Manny. Overall, what makes Lewis superior to Golota was his mental fortitude and ring IQ, but not much else.
Shut your ****ing mouth + Sign out + never come back = **** you very much have a nice day... Just kidding dude I am stoned:tired
We can't compare Lewis and Golota that night. It's like comparing Golota to Lewis when Lewis was sparked my Rahman and McCall. It's not fair. That fight would've been at least as good as the Bowe fights. One more thing, don't underestimate Bowe even in the first Golota fight, the guy was a freaking monster animal.
Nobody is comparing the two, I am just saying when that fight was made I was looking forward to seeing Golota knock the day lights out of Lennox, Was at my god fathers house that day, and he said he felt Lewis would win then suddenly we saw the McCall break down just before the fight and I remember my godfather saying see this guy just ****s people up mentally theres something about him.... The fight started and as you can imagine I was shocked, but my godfather again was like "see I told ya... Look at his eyes, his mind was going there but his body was trying not to.... as they showed the replay of Golotas face when he was dropped...." it was one of the most humbeling nights of my life I really thought Golota had this fight won...
